Live life to express, not to impress.” Unknown What an amazing year we have had to far! We are so fortunate to have such caring and dedicated women in the Auxiliary. Our efforts are making a significant impact on the lives of the children served by KID. As always, I would like to thank some hard-working members for things that have happened in the past couple months. Linda Petersen, Mary Ellen Ballotta, and Julie Dowd created another LOVE-ly and fun-filled Ladies’ Bingo Event with a Valentine’s twist. You all have such big HEARTS. Everyone enjoyed the new venue! Mark Dhooge and Will Spencer hosted an inspiring tour for the Auxiliary. It was wonderful to see their programs in action and learn where our critical contributions are making an impact. During the tour, we were also able to honor Rachel & Larry Gebaide for their unending contributions to KID. Congratulations! The KIDs Classic Spring Event was an absolutely BEE-autiful evening created by Mary Baker, Mary Ellen Ballotta, Julie Dowd, and Donna Goodner along with their talented event committee. The BUZZ around Ft. Lauderdale is that it was one of the finest fundraisers ever organized by the Auxiliary. As always, more fun is on the way. The Serving KIDs Tennis Event is on April 17th – and our End of Year Member Luncheon will take place on May 7th. Please also remember the monthly activities that are planned at the KID Pre-school – and that there all still opportunities for the Kids Helping KID to earn service hours (collecting donations for the KID Heart Program, participating in the Duckfest Team, and at events). And don’t forget to nominate someone (or yourself) for next year’s Auxiliary Board! Thank you for your continued support! Warmest regards, Belinda Burg’s Home 11:00am Thursday, May 7th President lynnares@me.com We are announcing our final fundraising event of the year the “Serving KIDs Tennis Event”! 40 tennis spots available—but we plan to host many non-playing dinner guests too! KID Agency Tour Thank you to Mark Dhooge and Will Spencer for an inspiring tour of the KID Agency on February 27th! Continue to…lend a H.E.A.R.T. H.E.A.R.T. is designed to provide housing and weekly training to parents. The goal is to help 50 at risk families in Broward County. KHK is collecting cleaning supplies, kitchen linens, Publix gift cards and used furniture to help support the program. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Lynn Marchetto at marchetto425@bellsouth.net or Jessica Fraser at fraser6@myacc.net. It's That Time of Year!!! The only qualification needed is a desire to make a difference in the lives of the KID children. Remember that our organization is filled with wonderful women who will be there every step of the way to support you! The KIDs Classic Spring Event on March 13, 2015 started with a wonderful and relaxing cocktail reception in the elegant Horvitz Lobby at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. During the reception our guests were able to mingle and bid on our 26 … A to Z … amazing silent auction baskets. The evening was well attended by KID Auxiliary members and their friends, as well as a large contingent from the Kids In Distress Agency and from the KID Agency Board. The venue could not have been more perfect! After the reception, we all headed into the Abdo New River Room where a delicious meal was served. We were then treated to the Tony award winning play, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with some audience participation from Tim Baker, Julie Motes, Linda Petersen and Will Spencer. Their spelling abilities were put to the test … and they were all good sports! We all went home with smiles on our faces after a wonderful evening of friendship and laughs while knowing how much good we did for KID. We would like to give our enormous thanks to all of our sponsors, donors of auction items and all of our volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you!
