The design has put Wavin on the map within their industry, and the company has become aware of the fact that it really pays off to use design. The room thermostat in the AHC 9000 series has become one of Wavins key products, and since the design process the company’s competitiveness has improved. Case: Wavin, Thermostat | 3PART The assignment was to design a user-friendly thermostat for floor heating control system for the Danish market. The product should differentiate themselves from competitors and visually have an expression that signaled Danish design. Process: 3PART had 4 weeks to develop the room thermostat. The process began with a series of consumer and market surveys, where customers’ requests and needs were identified. Subsequently, 3PART prepared a catalog with 9 different design proposals. 3 were further processed before the final design was chosen for further detail and design. Solution: Wavins room thermostat is highly developed and designed on the basis of installers and end-users’ needs and behavior. The sensor has an integrated display that shows the temperature, which can be easily adjusted by turning a single button. Result: The thermostat ended up being one of Wavins key products and reached Break-Even after only one year.
