Notice About Egg Donations From Walmart Based on information obtained from the USDA, Walmart is afraid that stores donating cartons of eggs containing broken product are in violation of USDA guidelines. At first, Walmart decided to shut down all egg donations until these concerns are resolved. However, Online Marketplace's Susan Goss has learned that Walmart will soon instruct stores to return to donating eggs that have reached their "sell‐by date" as long as the carton does not contain and has never contained broken eggs. At this point, Walmart has no plans to donate eggs/cartons exposed to broken eggs unless the USDA clarifies donation procedures.
