Kelly thanked Jim Gordon for serving as a PCMCA director and the hard working executive, especially Bert Creasy who leaves the executive this year. His dedication, enthusiasm and hard work are much appreciated. 3. Zone 2 Meeting Kelly, Art and Gord attended the meeting held on March 26, at the Peace Arch Curling Club. As circulated at our AGM, the proposed PCMCA fee increase (presently $2 with $1 returned to the zone, to $5 with $2 returned to the zone) and the expanded masters membership were the contentious issues discussed. Final decisions will be made at the PCMCA AGM in Richmond on April 7th, at 1:00 pm. Any member is welcome to attend that meeting. Watch for a NewsFlash to bring you news from the meeting. The group expressed their thanks to Jim Gordon who is stepping down from his position as a director on the PCMCA executive and to Gerry Powlik for agreeing to an additional year as director. The second director will be appointed at a later date. 4. Competitive League The competitive league looks like a go on Thursday afternoons starting in September. Presently 6 local teams, 3 teams from Chilliwack and possibly 2 other teams are ready to do battle. While there are some administrative details to work out, there is still room for teams or individual curlers to join the group. Contact Grant (604-854-4447) or Milt (604-852-9002) if you would like more information. 5. Time for Golf Want to join the crew that golfs each week. Contact Cultus Lake Golf course (604-858-9902) well in advance to book tee times with the Abbotsford Masters Curling group. The group gets together every Tuesday at 8:30 am at Cultus Lake 6. ACC Annual General Meeting Plan to attend the ACC AGM being held on April 15th at the Curling Center at 7:00 pm. Next year will be a critical year for all curlers in Abbotsford. Important and necessary changes are in the wind. The club will be relying largely on volunteers to carry the load. Plan to attend the meeting to hear about these plans, offer your ideas and input to shape the future of the club and support the efforts and work of the executive. We all need to be involved in some way, if curling in Abbotsford is to be successful. See you there! GC to tee off at 9:00. Car pools leave our curling rink at 8:00 am. Contact Kelly car54kel@telus.net for more information. May your drives stay out of the bushes, your irons be short to the green, your putts roll true to the cup and you never hear the most 3 dreaded words in golf - "you're still away"! 7. Agnes McCorkscrew goes “hame fer ta summer!” Agnes has traded her winter home in the heater above sheet 4 for the heather of the highlands. As she packed the “boot” on her broom for the long flight home, she was heard nattering "I ‘ope to see some fresh lads 'urling the granite next yare. If ta present sods bring in one o' ther' kin or clansmen or even a friend, if they has 'un, I will hae nuu blod to ogle. I ‘ope ta 'ell it 'appens! I'm seek o' this lot!” She is right. If we all make an effort to bring in a new or lapsed curler next fall our numbers will increase to former levels. There’s the summer challenge to us all! 8.
