Sports Fed 2015/16 Membership Options Introduction We appreciate that not all Sports Federation Clubs are the same. Sport Brighton has put together a range of options for your Sports Federation Club. The University of Brighton currently offers one of the cheapest ways to take part in student clubs across the university sector. However we know that some clubs have a desire to excel and perform to their full potential. We have looked to provide student clubs with an opt in for those that want this. For the 2015/16 academic year we need your club to opt for what level of support you require from Sport Brighton and the resulting cost to your members. The University has invested additional resource into this programme so you can be assured that your members are getting great value for money whatever you choose. These options are now available to ALL clubs. Details of the different types of club classification you can choose from is in this guide. We will be holding end of year review meetings with all club committees in May 2015. All clubs must complete their ratification form for 2015/16 by the 5th June 2015. Gold Team Availability: Package: Cost to student member: £140 per year Teams will have to apply for this status. Teams need to compete in BUCS tier 1 or above to be eligible. A limited number of places are available on this programme. • • • • • • • • • • • Inclusive one academic year Sport Brighton Membership (gym access & other benefits) Fitness assessments during year (x2) 1 hour of Strength and Conditioning (S&C) support per week for duration of playing season No further match fees required Physiotherapy assessment for each player during induction event and open clinic time allocations for teams Access to tailored workshops on nutrition and sports psychology Performance squad T-shirt (for those that attend the induction event) Qualified coaching for one session per week plus home/ away fixtures for each team. Teams with a playing squad of 30+ will be allocated additional coaching support. Existing support such as BUCS administration, training & match day facilities Endsleigh Elite Insurance Access to Sports Federation funding (bidding pot) Requirements: • Squad numbers set by Sport Brighton • • • • • • • • Committee to attend review meetings with Sport Brighton to assess progress Individuals must fulfil minimum attendance criteria in areas such as S&C training to maintain privileges. Emphasis of squad culture must be on playing performance and player development Team are required to submit updates for Sport Brighton marketing purposes twice a year Club members must sign up to a code of conduct All selected squad members must pay for their membership by the 1st November. Teams must submit weekly team sheets. Attendance at the programme induction session. If the club’s 1st team is selected for this programme any subsequent lower teams of that club will automatically be placed on the silver programme. Gold Individual New for 2015/16: Clubs that compete in BUCS eligible sports on a Sports Fed Silver (coached package) will be eligible to nominate individual club members to apply for the Gold package on an individual basis. Applications will be taken and accepted in the first week of October 2015. Successful applicants will benefit from the Gold package and be accountable to all programme requirements. This is aimed at BUCS individual or event based sports but also includes students in BUCS teams. Silver- Coached Cost to student member: £65 per year Availability: Teams just need to opt in. Open to all Sports Federation Clubs. Package: • Qualified coaching for one session per week plus home/ away fixtures for each team* • Existing support such as BUCS administration, training & match day facilities • Endsleigh Elite Insurance • Access to Sports Federation funding (bidding pot) • Access to first aid qualification for one team member • Fitness Assessment • Strength and Conditioning Support NEW FOR 2015/16 Requirements: • Clubs will need to agree a job description and memorandum of understanding between • • • • club and coach. Clubs will need to meet with Sport Brighton and coaching staff at least twice in the year. All selected squad members must pay for their membership by the 1st November. Standard adherence to the Sports Federation constitution Match Fees of £2.50 per starting player per BUCS fixture not included where applicable. *If your team goes for this option and we are unable to source an approved coach prior to the start of the season your club will only be required to pay for the Bronze BUCS package.
