POSITION SUMMARY
Adeso’s communication team and the newly established fundraising department’s purpose is to raise
the profile of the organisation and its causes amongst British and international audiences via social and
electronic media to support integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns. The ideal candidate will
work in a small and close knit team to support the delivery of the organization’s marketing and
communication strategy, ensuring the focus remains on increasing brand awareness and reaching a
wider target audience. In order to achieve this, the post holder will need to put together highly
marketable content for distribution through various social and electronic media channels as well as to
keep external stakeholders highly engaged. The candidate will be a mission-driven individual who will

have at least 5 years’ experience of managing integrated marketing campaigns and communication
across a range of marketing and communication disciplines and channels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaigns & Strategy
 Support in planning, budgeting and delivering Adeso's marketing campaigns across the agreed
marketing channels - within the approved budget.
 Engage the Fundraising Department for the delivery of key campaigns.
 Develop Communication, Marketing plans and budgets in line with Adeso's strategic objectives.
 To plan, budget and deliver marketing events.
Content Management and Distribution
 Develop and edit marketing, communication and fundraising materials that appropriately target
the intended audience.
 Work with designers, producers and printers in the creation of marketing and communication
materials.
 Ensure that all communications and marketing materials are professional, courteous, accurate
and consistent with the objectives of Adeso’s marketing and fundraising plans.
 Communicate and market Adeso's core brand identity to all stakeholders through various social,
electronic and print media channels.
 Ensure that Adeso’s gets the best deal possible when negotiating space on desired marketing
channels.
 Build and manage relations with media organisations and other stakeholders.
 Be responsible for organising Adeso's marketing activities and events in accordance with the
Marketing, Communication and Fundraising plan.
 Ensure all outgoing messages are consistent with the overall Communication and Marketing
objectives.
 Attract consistent and positive media coverage for Adeso's work.
General
 Contribute to the total effectiveness of the marketing and fundraising campaigns and Adeso’s
brand development.
 To solve problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive and engaged
team member.
 Develop key messages for all audiences including donors, volunteers, trustees, media, the
general public and other stakeholders.
 Assist in planning with Fundraising events and appeals.
 Represent Adeso at marketing and fundraising events
 Any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
 A degree level education in the field of Marketing or Communications or at least 5 year
experience in a similar capacity with an international non-governmental organization.

Solid experience in copywriting, proof reading and editing materials for web-site, social and
electronic media and various communication channels.
 Experience managing social media accounts for an international non-governmental organization.
 Experience of delivering campaigns across a variety of marketing channels, including direct mail,
websites, online campaigns (including SEO), emails, social media
 Experience of print, production and electronic material design processes and techniques.
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with creative writing.
 Exceptional analytical, planning, IT and research skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES








Thorough understanding of branding principles and tactics through social and electronic media
including the Web.
Strong knowledge of contemporary marketing techniques.
Strong knowledge of delivering marketing campaigns across diverse marketing mediums.
Passionate about East Africa Region and African Diaspora preferred.
Ability to work in a systematic and methodical manner and to work effectively within a team
environment.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
Commitment to Adeso’s mission, visions and values.
A proven ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully across the organization and as part of a
committed, integrated team.
