The event will run from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and will feature trainers from Leave No Trace for Outdoor Ethics for Arkansas, who will be hosting bi-hourly games for children and providing information on outdoor ethics to all. The elusive Bigfoot may even make an appearance. In addition to learning about how one can make an impact by not leaving one, a tie-dye station will be present for visitors to re-use old clothing items by turning them in to something new. Volunteers will be passing out litter bags at the base of the mountain for those who wish to contribute to the park by picking up litter during their hike. Come write an environmental pledge on a “leaf” provided by the park, and add it to the Environmental Pledge Tree that will be set up in the West Summit Picnic Area. In addition to the Leave No Trace activities, tie-dye station, and Environmental Pledge Tree, there will be a Tree Planting Ceremony at 2 p.m. where visitors will get the chance to plant a new tree in the park. All events are free of charge. Leave No Trace activities and the tie-dye station will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m. The celebration takes place in the park’s West Summit Picnic Area.
