Standard First Aid CPR-C is a higher level of first aid training and is required for the National Lifeguard program. This course may be offered prior to the National Lifeguard course upon request. Course Content Physical Standards Run-Swim-Two Run 100m, swim 100m, tow 100m within 6 minutes Rescue Sprint Approach 5m on beach, don fins and swim 50m Victim Carry Approach 5m on beach, recover victim and carry to shore and carry or drag 15m from water's edge *Practicing these physical standards prior to the course is highly reccomonded. Other Items Use of rescue craft Skin diving skills Management of Missing person Management of distressed or drowning victim Management of submerged non-breathing victim Management of spinal-injured victim Management of injured swimmer Lifeguard situations Demonstrate effective use of a rescue board or rescue craft Swim 5m at surface, 15m underwater, 5m back at surface Demonstrate effective search procedure of waterfront These items are all part of the National Lifeguard Pool option as well, however they are modified for a waterfront settin. These itmes work oneffective rescue skills, communication amoung lifeguards and patrons and working together as a lifeguard team (or individual lifeguard).
