Be Safe Newsletter No 7 Be Kind Be a Learner 06/05/15 News from Edith For your Diary The Anzac walk was fantastic and I was so proud of our students. Our School Captains, Molly and Youki laid a beautiful wreath made by the students. They, along with Mitchell looked great in the local paper. The students all listened in silence as we played the Last Stand. Friday, May 8 Mother’s Day Stall Items priced $2-$5 ea We had School Council Meeting last Monday night and as always it was interesting and important for the governance of our school. We will be further discussing our performance last year, look at the Annual Report for 2014 and look for areas to make further progress and to improve. You are welcome to attend if you have items you would like to raise or send me or other councillors an email. Please remember if there are areas needing improvement unless you let me or others know I cannot address them. The term has started well with new activities: one class of Middle school students have tennis coaching in Inverloch on a weekly basis whilst the other group are involved in the sailability program, juniors have gymnastics sessions weekly run by Miranda from Leongatha Gymnastics and the seniors have started weekly lessons in Taekwondo. It is good to see the students being active. This term students are working on setting up our Learning Stone. It will be launched on Thursday, May 28th. Please keep this date free so you can come and join our celebration. All parents/carers should have received a copy of their child’s individual learning plan; if there are any queries please contact myself or the teachers at school. —Edith Don’t forget our Mother’s Day Stall The Senior Students have been putting together gifts for mums/stepmum’s/nans/carers This Friday, May 8 All items priced between $2-$5 Monday, May 25 School Council 7 pm Thursday, May 28 Learning Stone Launch Monday, June 1 Sailability 10-12.30 Room 4 Wednesday, June 3 Parents & Friends Morning Tea 9.45am ATTENTION ALL BUS TRAVELLERS Contact phone numbers: COWES BUS 0439 141 538 DRIVER: Paul CHAPERONE: Greg GRANTVILLE/CORINELLA BUS 0447 913 555 DRIVER: Michael CHAPERONE: Vicky INVERLOCH BUS 0400 695 720 DRIVER: Matthew CHAPERONE: Rosalie WESTERNPORT ROAD LINES 5997 2211 Bass Coast Specialist School, 6 McKenzie Street, Wonthaggi VIC 3995 Phone: (03) 5672 4474 Fax: (03) 5672 4473 bass.coast.ss@edumail.vic.gov.au Principal: Edith Gray SAILABILITY Under blue skies and gentle breezes Room 4 students enjoyed boating on Monday on large yachts or power boats, leaving from New Haven Yacht club as part of the Sailability program. The smiles of students told stories of the new adventure; wearing life jackets, hoisting sails, exploring the cabin or waving to the other boats on the water. Staff and students look forward to the next adventure and thank the New Haven Yacht Squadron for donating their time and a place aboard their boats.
