Use the Battlefield Academic Camps to enrich your knowledge this summer. ILITE Robotics, along with the Battlefield staff, will host several camps for high school students: 3-D Renewable Art, Art with Printing, Math SAT Prep, Cyber Defense, and Cyber Security by Northrup Grumman. Spring 2015 2015 IT Awards In April, gold and silver IT medals were presented to seniors in the IT specialty program. The most outstanding student in each IT area also received a plaque at the ceremony. ILITE Robotics Wins DC Regional Chairman’s Award and Competes at World Championships “Betaware 4” Wins Lockheed Martin Programming Competition Code Quest is a computer programming competition consisting of 20 questions created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers. Teams of two to three students work together for 2.5 hours to answer the questions and complete the Quest. In April, Battlefield's ILITE Betaware team of Teddy Todorov and Eric Wolf earned first place in the advanced division, and the team of Noah Reily and Samuel Toureau earned a second place in the advanced division. Congratulations to ILITE Robotics FRC team 1885 for another stellar year. In late April, they competed in the World Championships in St. Louis, having a strong showing making it through the preliminary rounds to the playoffs. ILITE video of World Championship. The team qualified for the World Championships by winning the Chairman's Award at the FIRST Greater DC Regional. According to FIRST, the Chairman's Award is the highest honor given at the FRC regional, recognizing the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST. ILITE FRC team members and mentors relax at a competition FTC Team 5772 Represents Battlefield HS at the Eastern US Super-Regional ILIITE Robotics Team 5272 won the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award at the Virginia FTC State Championship in March. Winning the prestigious award qualified the team (Andrew DeFusco, Nathan Guo, Everett Michel, Trent Parsons, Cameron Rhodes, Moeez Sheikh, and Sam Web) for the Eastern U.S. Super-Regional Championship which was held in Scranton, PA. Also, congratulations to Amr Metwally for being named a FIRST Dean's List Award finalist. The Dean's List Award celebrates outstanding student leaders whose passion for, and effectiveness at attaining FIRST ideals is exemplary. In April, the students, along with their sponsor Mrs. Evers, traveled to Vaughan Elementary and distributed over twenty computers. Families are shown how to assemble computers. BEST club members assist with taking computers to the cars. Basic operations are demonstrated. And occasionally students show their excitement with a high five! Students test out their new computers.
