Spring Convention
Trade Show
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 2015
Spring Convention & Trade Show - the largest annual
event for long term care professionals in Arkansas. The
annual convention pairs industry-leading education and
networking with a large trade show where vendors who
supply goods and services to our facilities showcase their
newest innovations.
You will notice a few new features to this year’s event:
National Quality Initiative
To promote the National Quality Initiative, you will notice
sessions that focus on the following:
- Safely Reduce Hospital Readmissions
- Increase Staff Stability
- Increase Customer Satisfacation
- Safely Reduce the Off-Label use of Antipsychotics
Legislative Update
We will have a recap and overview of events associated
with the 90th General Assembly, including legislation
relevant to long term care. Included will be updates from
the Governor’s Legislative Task Force on Health Care
Reform.
A special thanks to the education committee for their help
in developing this year’s agenda.
We look forward to seeing everyone in Hot Springs!

Pre-Conference Intensive:
Quality Partners Workshop
This intensive workshop utilizes the techniques of Teepa Snow to assist
Directors of Nursing, Administration, and Consultants in training Direct Care
staff on the basic principles of Dementia and how it effects the brain as well
as hands on application of these principles. A binder providing a breakdown
of in-services on these topics and key points when utilizing the Positive
Approach and Hand Under Hand techniques will be provided in an effort to
allow easier dissemination of the information. The Positive Approach and
Hand Under Hand techniques will be explained in detail as well as how to apply
it to multiple care scenarios to allow more confidence when training on these
techniques. Behavior prevention and communicating with Residents with
Dementia will also be covered. This will assist in the continued effort to reduce
the use of Antipsychotics in facilities. Case studies and interactive in-service
will be provided to allow easy replication when training Direct Care staff.
