SAFETY MESSAGE
This week a suspicious male trespassed on school property approximately 45 minutes after dismissal. This person walked
through the basement hallway, out the portable doors and left the school property. Witnesses reported that he was
wearing socks, shoes and underwear. The police were notified. The school administration and director of the daycare
have reviewed the details of the situation and discussed preventative changes to our afterschool safety procedures.
All exterior doors of the school are locked during the school day. Previously the front doors, parking lot doors and portable
doors were left open from 4:00 until 6:00 to allow parents who use the daycare to access the school for pick up. Effective
Thursday April 15th, only the portable (east) doors will be unlocked at the end of the school day. These are the doors that
are directly monitored by daycare staff. This may cause inconvenience for daycare parents but the change is necessary to
ensure the safety of our learning community afterschool.
We know that a safe school is a shared responsibility. We all need to work together to ensure the safety of all of our
children. At the beginning and the end of each day all students should be picked up and dropped off at their designated
outside spot. Parents and caregivers in the halls during entry and dismissal make it more difficult for staff to identify
trespassers and threats to student safety.

LEGO/ROBOTICS
Bedford Park is building and designing a LEGO and robotic program and a lunch hour club, using materials, such as
LEGO. We already have a Grade 1 LEGO club running. We plan on giving many more students access to these activities.
In order to be most impactful, we are asking anyone who may have any of the following materials to donate: LEGO,
Technics, Mindstorms and any related materials. There is no amount that is too small or too big. Partial sets and
damaged sets often have specific parts that can be incorporated into our program. Any donations can be brought to the
office. We appreciate your support. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Henneberry.
BEDFORD PARK PLAYERS
The Bedford Park Players amateur theatre group will be performing their version of Peter Pan on April 16th, 17th and 18th
at the Randolph Theatre (736 Bathurst Street). Bedford Park's very own Lauren Brownlee and Linda Kennedy will be
joined on stage by many Bedford Park parents and community members. All proceeds from ticket sales support The Big
Little Caravan of Joy run by Sarina Condello. Sarina runs arts camps for underprivileged children in remote northern
Ontario and in orphanages in Africa. Click on the link for more information and for on-line ticket sales:
