Comments
In December 2011 the Big Four international audit companies agreed the application of IAS 29 "Financial Reporting in Hyperinflationary Economies" in
Belarus. This resulted in net loss for 2011 under IFRS in the majority of Belarusian banks, including Belarusbank. The nature of these losses is
"inflationary", i.e. caused by external factors such as macroeconomic disbalance.
If IAS 29 "Financial Reporting in Hyperinflationary Economies" were not applied, Belarusbank’s profit for 2011 under IFRS would amount to 50 million
US dollars.
