Christ is risen! Congregation: He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Christ the Lord Is Risen Today Hymn #277 1 Corinthians 15:1-10 (page 1139 in pew Bible) Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. Oh Happy Day The greatest day in history, death is beaten, You have rescued me Sing it out, Jesus is alive Empty cross, And empty grave, life eternal, You have won the day Shout it out, Jesus is alive, He's alive Oh happy day, Happy day, You wash my sin away Oh happy day, Happy day, I'll never be the same When I stand in that place, free at last, Meeting face to face I am Yours, Jesus you are mine Endless joy and perfect peace, earthly pain finally will cease Celebrate, Jesus is alive, He's alive And oh, what a glorious day, what a glorious way That you have saved me, and oh, what a glorious day What a glorious name, yeah All Because of Jesus Giver of every breath I breathe Author of all eternity Giver of every perfect thing To You be the glory Maker of Heaven and of earth No one can comprehend Your worth King over all the universe To You be the glory I am alive because I'm alive in You And it's all because of Jesus I'm alive It's all because the blood of Jesus Christ It covers me and raised this dead man's life It's all because of Jesus I'm alive Every sunrise sings Your praise The universe cries out Your praise I'm singing freedom all my days Now that I'm alive Congregational Prayer & the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen. Offering to the Lord Crown Him Lord this Easter Day Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise Him all creatures here below: Alleluia, alleluia! Praise him above, ye heav’nly host, praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Prayer of Thanksgiving Thine Be the Glory Hymn #274 Silent Prayer and Reflection John 4:7-26 (page 1052 in pew Bible) When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back." “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.” Jesus Offers Living Water Message 9SERMON NOTES ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________ The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper Guidelines for Receiving the Lord’s Supper The Lord’s Supper is the family meal for Christians. We invite all baptized Christians who profess faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, and who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live more faithfully for Christ to join us now. If you are not a Christian, or if you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with His people, the church. This morning, we will come forward to receive communion. You may partake of the bread and cup as you receive them. *If you are unable to come forward to receive communion, please raise your hand and the servers will come to your seat. O hell, where is your victory? O church, come stand in the light The glory of God has defeated the night Sing it, o death, where is your sting? O hell, where is your victory?
