It was a fun time for all. Sad to say goodbye to our crowning Queen and acting Prince and Princess but also exciting for the new reigning Queen, Prince and Princess. “Thank You” to the Outgoing Royalty’s Parents (Mrs. Price, Ms. Wenting, and Mrs. Sangha), for the wonderful preparation of the crowning of the Royalty Tea they hosted. The food and ambiance was spectacular. Students need to be at Bradner Elementary School by 9:15 a.m., to get dressed and make their way to the head of the parade at 10:00 a.m. HELP!! - (If you have, or know of anyone, who has access to a float/hayride for the May Pole Team to ride on in the parade, please contact the office). Bulldog Assembly Our next Bradner Bulldog Assembly will take place on Friday, May 1st , 2015 @ 9:30 am (Final Bulldog Assembly of the year) to accommodate our School Wide Swim. If you are not sure about a month being filled out or not, please just fill out a duplicate form. Track & Field Track season is just around the corner and PE classes will begin instruction. Practices will be starting Wednesday, May 20th. Students will practice Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:25- 3:15 p.m., as they prepare for the upcoming district track meet on Wednesday, June 10th at Rotary Stadium. Consent forms will be coming home shortly. This is a mandatory event for all grades 4-7 as a portion of their PE mark is derived from their participation in this event. Terry Fox Run Bradner Elementary is honoured to have collected $359.08 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Proceeds were donated from the Terry Fox Walkathon in May. Thank you for your generosity! The Class that brought in the most money (per capita) and who are this year’s Pizza Party Winners are: Div. 3 – Mrs. Bray’s Class, “Congratulations” Ready, Set, Learn for 3 & 4 year olds On Wednesday, April 22nd, Bradner hosted the Ready, Set, Learn, for 3 & 4 year olds. It was wonderful to get to see and meet all the Kindergarten students coming in September. A Great Big “Thank You” to Ms. Gill for all her hard work in organizing this wonderful event. These programs are for students who require extra help to meet learning outcomes in basic literacy and numeracy. Enrollment for these programs was conducted in schools by referral only, for qualified students. Thus, there is no open registration for these elementary/ middle programs: Date: Monday, July 6 - Thursday, July 23, 2015 Hours of Operation: All programs will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 pm, except for the Community Access programs, which will run from 8:30 - 2:30 pm | Page 3 of 5 A $50 refundable deposit is required for each applicant. Programs continue to be free, funded by the Ministry of Education. Deposits will be returned to all families the last week of school. Families who decline their spot, withdraw early or have more than 3 absences will forfeit their deposit. Twin Day On Friday, April 25th, Bradner hosted Twin Day. The students and staff all dressed up to show their School Spirit. Note: There is no tuition fee for these courses for students who are residents of British Columbia. There are tuition fees for International students. LAST DAY FOR LIBRARY BOOK RETURN Please note that all Library books will be due back to the Library on Friday, June 5th. Mrs. Kemp will be advising you of the cost of books if they have not been returned., Thank You to our Volunteers! To Mrs. Kanwaljit Dhadda for supplying all our Walking Club participants with FREEZIES. To Mr. Scott and Mrs. Jennifer Solomon for lending the school their kiddy pool for the Terry Fox Walkathon (our Atlantic Ocean). To all the staff, parents, grandparents and volunteers who helped out with the Terry Fox Walk-a-thon, we couldn’t have done it without your help and support., To Nicky Annecchini and the Bradner PAC for supplying the cookie, oranges and water station for our Terry Fox Run. To Mrs. Stacey Stinson for all her help with the set-up of the Ready, Set, Learn event held at Bradner last week. To Mrs. Nicky Annecchini for organizing the School Supply Fundraiser and making sure it was distributed in time for the Ready, Set, Learn event. The Bradner Staff are so blessed to have such wonderful Volunteers, who take time out of their very busy schedules, and always jump in with both feet, to help with all the little things that make Bradner such a wonderful school to be part of. All sold or unsold tickets must be returned to the office by Tuesday, May 12th. More booklets are available at the office. The proceeds from this PAC raffle are used to finance extra programs for Bradner Elementary School. The class with the most ticket sales will be treated to a Pizza Lunch. Nepal Earthquake relief fundraiser By now we are certain that most have heard about the earthquake that happened in Nepal. Below is a report made by CNN: Nepalese authorities have so far said 5,016 people died and more than 10,000 were injured as a result of the massive earthquake that struck Saturday, April 25th, 2015. Officials have warned the death toll is expected to rise For a month (until May 25) our government will match any donations given to a registered charity. The Rick Hansen Family of Schools (which includes Bradner Elementary School) are taking donations to give to those in Nepal working ‘on the ground’. Bradner Community is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner May 18th, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00pm @ the Bradner Hall Join with family, friends, & neighbours to finish off this Traditional Day with each other, celebrating this great community we live in! Mother’s Day Breakfast @ Jubilee Hall Jubilee Hall (7999 Bradner Road) will be hosting its 41st annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 10th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon for $6 you can dine on sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit cocktail and all the pancakes you can eat! This is a great event to treat Mom and a wonderful place to bring anyone from grandparents, right down to the kids!
