Our own Bradner Elementary School Handbell Choir performed for the opening ceremonies with a Handbell performance. We would like to take this opportunity to say “THANK YOU VERY MUCH” to Ms. Val Duma, who spent numerous hours volunteering her time and talent to conduct our Handbell presentation. Ms. Duma is a vital part of the Bradner Family. We can’t say Thank You enough about all she does in and around Bradner Elementary School to help us maintain the high standard of achievement that we strive to provide all our students. Thank you to all the classes that provided artwork to decorate the tearoom, it looked fabulous. We received several comments from the general public about what well behaved students we have here at Bradner Elementary School. May Pole Dance Team Maypole Dance Team permission slips will be coming home shortly. Practices will be held at noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays on May 5, 7, 12, and 14th. Your child MUST BE present at the May Day Celebrations to perform the dance on Monday, May 18th @ Bradner Elementary School by 9:15 a.m., for the 10:00 a.m., Opening Ceremonies. Twin Day On Friday, April 24th, Bradner will be hosting a Twin Day. Dress up like someone else in the school. It’s all about School Spirit and having fun. SUMMER CLOTHING As our summer weather arrives, we’d like to remind parents and students about appropriate dress for school. We expect that clothing be worn so that no midriffs are showing when standing or sitting, shoulders are covered (no spaghetti straps, tank tops or tube tops) and shirts have modest necklines. We also ask that students not wear short shorts. Ready, Set, Learn for 3 & 4 year olds will be held @ Bradner on WEDNESDAY, April 22nd from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Parents, and their children born in 2010 or 2011 are invited to come to a Ready, Set, Learn (RSL) event at their neighbourhood school. Every child will be given a bag of learning supplies. Parents will be given resources and ideas about how to support their child in using these materials. Ready, Set, Learn is to help parents receive valuable information for helping preschoolers experience success and provide 3 & 4 year-old children with a good head start for kindergarten. We will have activities with stories; letters; words and printing. Families will receive an information kit. It has been so wonderful to see so many students with such enthusiasm taking part in this wonderful event, combined with our daily physical activity requirement. Many students have been doing extra laps, over and above the minimal requirements. Thank you to all the Teachers and Staff who have helped to organize and make this such a great Walking Club this year. Bradner School Swim - Friday, May 1st, 2015 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Any child under 7 years of age and any child who is considered a non-swimmer must have an adult (18 years or over) with them in the water and at arms-length away, at all times. Any child who is under 7 years of age or a non-swimmer and not accompanied by an adult will not be permitted to swim on swim day. We encourage parents to make whatever arrangements necessary, as early as possible, so that all students have the opportunity to participate. Many thanks! MAY POLE DANCE TEAM – FLOAT URGENTLY NEEDED The Bradner Maypole Dance Team is in urgent need of a Float for the upcoming May Day Parade. If you have one, or know someone, who has access to a Float and could lend it to Ms. Collier for the upcoming celebration, please contact the office at (604) 856-3304. Each year the Maypole Dance Team ride on a float in the May Day Parade, prior to performing their wonderfully choreographed May Pole Dances at the opening ceremonies. The float should be able to accommodate at least 40 students and a few chaperones, and must be decorated prior to arrival. We are also looking for volunteers to decorate the float.
