 POSITION: Development Coordinator REPORTS TO: Development Manager ABOUT CAMP KESEM: Camp Kesem recognizes and embraces the often-­‐overlooked population of children touched by a parent’s cancer. Our programs create a life-­‐long community of support, to help address their unique needs. Best known is our camp program -­‐ a national network of college student run, FREE summer camps for children ages 6-­‐16 whose parent has or had cancer. We provide a safe and supportive atmosphere where children befriend peers who can uniquely relate to their situation, and gain the strategies and confidence needed to cope with their parent’s illness or death. At the same time, college students develop critical leadership skills as they create, manage, fundraise and run every aspect of their local Camp Kesem chapters. Since our first camp started at Stanford University in 2000, Camp Kesem has grown to over 60 college chapters in 29 states across the country. This past summer we served nearly 4,000 children and provided leadership opportunities for over 1,800 college student leaders. We anticipate serving over 5,000 children in summer 2015. Building off of our success to date, we are now charting the course to increase our impact dramatically in the years ahead. There is tremendous opportunity to grow the organization further, until one day we can bring the life-­‐changing benefits of our camps to the 3 million+ children coping with a parent’s cancer. ABOUT THE POSITION: Camp Kesem seeks a detail-­‐oriented, database-­‐experienced Development Coordinator who, in coordination with our 3-­‐person development team, can implement key aspects of our development portfolio: • Implement Team Kesem initiatives including teams for marathons, 5ks, bike-­‐a-­‐thons, and other races. This includes supporting runners and bikers in fundraising and managing project timelines and budgets. • Fundraising event support – CK has two events each year, one in Chicago (March) and one in LA (Sept). The DC will be responsible for some logistics coordination and volunteer management as directed by the DM. • Rework Kesem’s online store presence, including management and implementation of product and merchandise sales for our national organization and 60+ chapters. • Support of our chapter fundraising in key training and process areas: o Train operations team members in development tools and processes including fundraising events, online fundraising mechanisms (including online ticket sales, merchandise sales, and peer-­‐to-­‐peer fundraising) Assist development team at National Leadership Summit in presentations related to fundraising o Review chapter grant requests for overlap, prospect fit, and approval Draft Kesem grant reports, letters of intents, and proposals. Ensure accurate tracking of deadlines for proposals and reports in Salesforce. General support of our Alumni Relations Manager, including event support and regular reporting Liase with national partners and corporate partners, as appropriate. o

Experience & Required Skills • 2 – 5 years nonprofit fundraising experience preferred. • Incredibly detail-­‐oriented and excellent follow-­‐through. • Must be able to multi-­‐task and keep track of multiple projects, managing long-­‐term deadlines against weekly, short-­‐term recurrent needs. • Excellent organizational and project management skills. • Strong writing, speaking and communication skills. • Entrepreneurial, flexible and adaptable. We are a small organization and often require innovative solutions from our team. • Proficient with Salesforce and database management tools. • Positive, fun attitude. We preserve childhood for kids whose parents have cancer and so have a team that loves to have fun. • Must have strong references. • Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree Hours per week: The position is a full-­‐time position. It is expected that the responsibilities will require 40-­‐50 hours per week including anywhere from 2 – 5 meetings per week (in the Chicago area) with supervisor and/or other members of the team. Because the Development Coordinator will work primarily from home, there is some flexibility on the workday schedule. However, the Development Coordinator must be available for all staff calls, the majority of which occur between 9am-­‐5pm CT. Location: Candidates should be based in Chicago. Candidate will work remotely (from home) as Camp Kesem has no centralized headquarters. Development Coordinator must be able to travel as needed. On average, the Development Coordinator should expect to travel 6-­‐8 times per year, all within the United States. Travel may include systems training, staff meetings, college campus visits, and fundraising events.
