JOB SUMMARY:
Right To Play’s (RTP) Canadian National Office (CNO) is a busy hub comprising three fundraising
departments – Corporate, Individual and Schools & Universities. Collectively, these departments
deliver $7 million annually to RTP globally, and provide crucial support in advancing our vision of a
healthy and safe world through the power of sport and play.
In this broader context, the Schools & Universities Team plays a unique role. Through its national
focus on students and educators, and its partnerships with over 300 schools and 29 University and
College Clubs across the country, the team doesn’t just raise funds for RTP – it helps build RTP’s
future donor base through development of potentially lifelong connections and relationships with
young people.
As a member of the Schools and University Team, this role is critical to the success of RTP’s
Canadian Engagement Strategy and fundraising targets. Reporting to the Deputy Director,
Development and working collaboratively with other members of the Schools & Universities Team,
the Development Coordinator’s primary role is to help create, cultivate, support and steward
innovative RTP initiatives – both in-person and virtually – that promote RTP awareness, harness
young people’s energy and commitment to our goals, and translate their support into fundraising
dollars.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Responsibility #1: Develop and Strengthen University Right To Play Clubs (65 % of Time)



Support and inspire fundraising campaigns with university and college based RTP Clubs
Identify and oversee development of existing and prospective post-secondary partnerships
Support university and college clubs through leadership workshops, remote support and
connecting clubs with one another








Create workshops for conferences, The University Club Summit (The Summit) and for Club
meetings throughout the school year to develop leadership and fundraising skills of youth.
Collect data, results and anecdotes from clubs to assess progress and disseminate bestpractice information to all members
Maintain an up to date pipeline in the RTP donor database of expected donations and followup with clubs to receive donations
Ensure clubs are set up in a sustainable manner creating proper handover processes for each
club
With the Deputy Director, organize and implement The Summit, as well as create content and
itinerary
Deliver workshops at The Summit
Manage current university and college RTP Club executive team to ensure they are supported
and recognized appropriately in collaboration with the Deputy Director
Review and enhance stewardship guidelines for RTP Club executive members; ensure the
implementation of guidelines
Job Responsibility #2: Support Online Fundraising Campaigns (20 % of time)








Identify opportunities to grow current online fundraising initiatives
Create and maintain the online fundraising pages and liaise with university/college clubs
about their needs, the content, etc.
Primary RTP contact for ECHOage
Regularly liaise with ECHOage Account Manager, to maintain relationship and acquire best
practice knowledge
Leverage social media opportunities to increase awareness about ECHOage program and
grow revenue
Manage the timely execution of thank you messages to party hosts
Work with RTP finance team to optimize receipting process with a goal of moving to digital
Steward individuals who select RTP as a their charity of choice through ECHOage
Job Responsibility #3: Create and Sustain Summer Camp Partnerships (10% of Time)




Identify possible opportunities to develop camp partnerships with universities
Support and enhance existing camp partnerships
Create and deliver workshops for camp staff to gain a better understanding of RTP’s work
Support each camp partnership to set and attain their fundraising goal
Job Responsibility #4: Perform Other Duties as Required (5% of Time)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Must have)
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:

Relevant 4 year undergraduate degree
EXPERIENCE:



Minimum of 2 years in a fundraising role with an established track record
Experience developing and executing fundraising campaigns and comfortable interacting with
children, university and college aged students, professors and faculty members
Leading projects and coordinating events

Experience with online fundraising platforms
LANGUAGES:

Speaking, reading, and writing fluency in English (knowledge of French an asset)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:








Certificate in Fundraising Management
Fundraising experience with a non-profit organization
Experience working with an international non-governmental organization (INGO)
Experience working with University and College Clubs
Project management experience
Budget management
Ability to speak and write in French
Experience facilitating workshops
