Description: The Lower Kuskokwim School District is an exciting place to learn and a rewarding place to teach! It is the
largest rural school district in Alaska in number of sites, teachers and students. The land mass of the District is about the
size of Ohio spreading along the Kuskokwim River and southwest coast of Alaska. The district is comprised of 22 village
schools and 5 Bethel schools. Approximately 350 teachers and administrators serve about 4000 predominantly Yup'ik
heritage students in grades Pre-K through 12. There is no road access to western Alaska. Travel is by jet from Anchorage
and then by small planes, snow mobiles or boats from Bethel to the village sites. More detailed information is at our
website www.lksd.org
LKSD strives to find teachers who hold the following traits considered necessary to work in our district. 1. BE
SUPPORTIVE OF BILINGUAL/BICULTURAL EDUCATION: We have the largest number of children who speak the Yup'ik
Language of any school district in Alaska. Parents want their children to be able to speak Yup'ik at a level they can
communicate with their elders, and be able to use English at a high academic level that will provide success in college or
technical training. 2. BE INTERESTED IN A CROSS-CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT: We need teachers and administrators who
thrive in a cross-cultural environment and are willing to integrate traditional Yup'ik knowledge into their academic
programs. 3. MAINTAIN HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE CARE: We need educators who
can take children at whatever level they are performing and provide a rigorous, challenging educational experience that
will prepare them for whatever the future brings coupled with the ability to communicate care for their students. The
ability to work hard, be flexible and have a sense of humor is critical.

Description: The Oro Grande School District supports two school systems (Riverside Preparatory School and Mojave
River Academy). The rapidly growing district features a seat time K-12 grade parent choice school located in the high
desert near Victorville, CA and a K-12 independent study program with 13 campuses including areas of Bakersfield, Palm
Springs, Victorville and Fontana, CA. We are currently seeking elementary and secondary teachers in all subject areas to
meet the rapid growth of the district.
Riverside Preparatory School (RP) features a K-5 campus (1,100 students), a 6-8 middle school (750 students) and a 9-12
grade high school (750 students--capacity 1,000). The wait list for the program is extensive and one of the most sought
after schools of choice in the area. PR features an extended day program in which students apply learning through
Project-Based Learning (PBL), a hands on approach that connects academics to 21st Century Skills. Academics are
supplemented by award winning co-curricular activities including full art, music, pe and computer classes for all
elementary students. Secondary students can continue their fine art exploration through band, music, drama or choir;
in addition competitive sports are offered beginning in the 7th grade. The learning environment is enhanced with strictly
enforced honor, behavior and dress codes.
Mojave River Academy (MRA) serves K-12 grade students and is able to meet the needs a variety of children through a
unique independent study setting. Our student population (1,600) comes from a wide range of students and families
including: previous homeschooled students who desire a state-recognized curriculum, students who desire to
accelerate their high school requirements, students in need of an alternative setting and students who are working,
traveling or performing and need additional flexibility. This unique school setting recognizes that all students have
different goals and it is our mission to assist them to reach those goals through small groups, one-on-one instruction and
flexible scheduling allowing student to pursue other interests and learning opportunities outside of the traditional
school environment. Both traditional and college preparatory curriculums are available to all students based upon
student goals. Unique to MRA are the individual subject specific teachers and tutors that are available for all students
including highly qualified math teachers for advanced learning.
Oro Grande School District is located in the small community of Oro Grande, located on historic Route 66 and less than a
five minute drive to Victorville, California. The Victor Valley is comprised of the towns of Apple Valley, Victorville,
Hesperia, Helendale, Adelanto, Oak Hills and Phelan. Victorville is just over 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles and 35
miles northeast of San Bernardino just on the other side of the San Bernardino Mountains via Interstate 15. Victor
Valley is conveniently located near the following locations in southern California: 1 ½ hours from Los Angeles, 2 hours
from Palm Springs, 2 ½ hours from San Diego, 45 minutes to the Ontario Airport, 1 ½ hours from Anaheim, 1 hour from
Big Bear Lake and 35 minutes to Wrightwood. We are also under 3 hours to Las Vegas, NV.
Moving to California---The cost of living in the Victor Valley is similar to the urban areas of Michigan. Apartment rentals
range from $600-$900 per month while condominium and home rentals vary from $800-$2,000. Most new teachers
find suitable housing in the $800-$1,000 range, often with utilities included. We encourage new teachers to ask for
assistance in securing housing. We are happy to offer options in the variety of housing available. We also can offer
salary advancement to ease the transition to California. Credentialing is most often reciprocal between Michigan and
California. The taking of the CBEST during the first year of teaching will provide most candidates with a 5 year
credential. During the first years of teaching we also provide a district paid induction and new teacher support program

Description: Dearborn Public Schools is the 3rd largest district in the State of Michigan with over 19,000 students and
over 2400 employees. The community is proud of the role that this region has played in the history and development of
Southeastern Michigan. It is a history that can be traced back to Native Americans living along the banks of the Rouge

cabin. This is quite a contrast to the 34 neighborhood elementary, middle, and high schools that now span the district.
Auto giant Henry Ford was born on a small farm in Dearborn. His accomplishments revolutionized the auto industry and
brought the automobile to millions of people around the world.
Today, Dearborn remains the World Headquarters of Ford Motor Company. . Many schools in Dearborn carry the name
of Mr. Ford and his family. Fordson High School, one of three public high schools in our district, was the first million

Our mission is simple: make urban schools great. By great schools, we mean schools that place all students – no matter

American Promise Schools was founded to redeem this Promise for urban children in Detroit and across Michigan.
Established by three veterans of the education reform movement, American Promise Schools is a non-profit school

elementary and a district multi-age classroom for grades 1-3. Our elementary schools use Reader’s and Writer’s
workshop as part of the English Language Arts program.
Technology is infused into instruction, with Smartboards in every classroom and digital citizenship part of the Learner
Profile developed by all staff. Working together in Professional Learning Committees (PLCs) each week is part of our
district-wide Plan for Continuous Improvement. This work in turn feeds each School Improvement Plan. Opportunities
for leadership abound through grade level leaders, department chairs, participation in Galileo, and programs that range
from administrator development to participation in each building’s Michigan Green School team.
GPPSS also fields 30 different sports programs at each high school which are enhanced by community offerings through
the Neighborhood Club, Grosse Pointe War Memorial and others for crew, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, football and more.
Our tuition-based Preschool, Kids Club childcare, and summer camp options, as well as a full offering of summer
enrichment courses help meet the needs of busy families as well. Parent involvement is enviable here, with over 90% of
all families and over 99% of elementary parents attending conferences. Our PTO and booster support is second to none,
and the Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education has raised over $2 million for our public schools to date
impacting every student at every grade level.
Grosse Pointe families live, learn and play together on tree-lined streets, within walking distance of excellent schools
and community parks. The location is ideal. Bordered on one side by beautiful Lake St. Clair and the other by easy access
to the highway system, other cities, suburbs and nature are easily accessible. To learn more about the community,
please visit our Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce at www.grossepointechamber.com or the Grosse Pointe Board of
Realtors at www.gpbr.com.
Please navigate to our district website www.gpschools.org for information about our schools, from budget documents to
news and events. Our website is one of our primary communication tools, and is full of details for those considering the
area and families already enjoying our schools.
In active partnership with our community, we continue our tradition of educational excellence.

Description: New Haven Community Schools is a small public school district in northern Macomb County, MI. The
district’s small size allows us to move quickly to embrace new technology. We have iPads in every elementary classroom.
We have 1:1 chromebook sets at the high school level. Teachers communicate through Google docs and we are
currently implementing a laptop program for teachers so teacher work stations are totally portable. Our high school
assistant principal recently won a national award for technology leadership.
Our national awards don’t end there. We have been recognized nationally as one of the “Best Communities for Music
Education”. We have vocal music classes in K-12 and instrumental classes in 6-12 including several levels of band,
marching band and guitar.
In 2012, we launched a new K-12 Alternative Energy curriculum. We are concentrating on solar power at elementary,
wind power at middle school, and bio-fuels at the high school. It’s exciting instruction, allowing students to get hands-on
experience with solar panels, wind turbines, and equipment that makes bio-diesel fuel for our bus fleet! These are the
types of 21st century skills that will give New Haven students academic and career advantages. And, we don’t just teach
alternative energy, we live it. Half our bus fleet is powered by propane.
We have also entered into a program that will revolutionize the high school experience for our students. We have
expanded the high school day to make it possible for students to earn both a diploma and Associate’s Degree in four
years! (Not five years; four years.)
New Haven Community Schools is a highly regarded school district. We’re the proud winners of the 2014 Winner’s Circle
Award, 2014 Best and Brightest Award, 2014 Education Excellence Award and the 2014 Detroit Free Press Green Leader
Award! Our transportation supervisor was named “Michigan Transportation Supervisor of the Year” for 2014. This
school year, New Haven High School is a reward school and was ranked the fourth best high school in Macomb County
by the Michigan Department of Education.
If you’re a great teacher looking for a place to call home, come to the New Haven Community Schools table. Our small
environment means you’ll be developed and nurtured to become a superstar teacher. If you want a small-town
environment where everyone knows your name (yet is only three miles from a major shopping area), New Haven is the
place for you.

School District. Since 1840 the Berkley School District has been committed to guiding each student, PreK-grade 12, to
achieve their personal best, while creating lasting relationships with teachers, administrators, and fellow students. The

that our students' experience is within a safe and nurturing environment where high achievement includes academic
excellence, opportunities for language, fine arts, athletics, and the development of personal skills for life-long success.
Inside each of our schools is a warm and friendly environment - our schools are very safe, orderly, and caring. We
believe in educating the whole child, including hard work, sharing, citizenship, and persistence. At the same time we
value creativity, independent thought, and curiosity.
We celebrate that students graduate from the Berkley School District, not just Berkley High School. Every step in
education is important to future success, and here in Berkley we put our students in positions to be successful.

Description: KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is on a mission to develop in underserved students the academic
skills, intellectual habits, and qualities of character necessary to succeed at all levels of pre-kindergarten through 12th
grade, college, and the competitive world beyond. Finishing its second decade, KIPP has become a national leader in the
movement to provide all children with access to an excellent education. KIPP was founded in Houston in 1994 and has
grown to 162 public schools in 20 states and DC serving nearly 59,000 children. Houston is KIPP’s largest region, with 22
public schools serving nearly 11,500 students and an additional 1,200 alumni in college and beyond. While only 8
percent of students from low-income communities across the nation graduate from college, KIPPsters boast a 54
percent college graduation rate, tracking from 8th grade.
As we teach our students, there are no shortcuts on the path to college graduation. Students achieve their dreams by
following two important rules: Work hard. Be nice. KIPPsters work hard by spending more time on task than many of
their peers. They are in class from 7:25 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and have extra learning opportunities during weekends and
summers. Nevertheless, at KIPP we believe it is just as important to be nice as it is to work hard. KIPP schools develop
character traits that empower students to become ethical leaders, productive citizens, and loyal friends.
