Here is our new list of classes and clubs that will run for September - December at which time another
list will be available. We have tried to provide a wide range of fun projects and some that might make
great Christmas gifts.
We are starting the season with a “Class Launch” in both stores. Surrey will have their class launch on
Sat Sep 7 at 10:00am and Chilliwack will have a class launch on Thurs Sep 12 at 6:30pm during Cake
Therapy. Join us as we go over all the great classes and clubs we are running. It’s a good time to see
the samples, ask questions and register for classes. Plus we’ll be celebrating the new season with
refreshments, goodies and in store specials!

Roll the Dice: Are you lucky? Come have some fun with us as we play a fabric
trading game. Bring 110 – 2.5” squares to play with. Come collect or trade fabrics
depending on your luck with the dice. These squares will be used to make a fun table
runner. We will provide you with a free table runner pattern using these squares
and a demonstration on how to put the table runner together. You really don’t want
to miss the fun!

3. Win Fabric for a Year: At the end of our Contest we will hold a quilt trunk
show to give everyone a chance to see the amazing entries that are donated.
The trunk show will take place in Chilliwack on Wed Oct 16 and in Surrey
on Tues Oct 15. During the Trunk Show you will be able to vote on your
favourite quilt and the winner of $600. Mark your calendars to come in and
help us choose a winner. Get your quilts in and have a chance to win an

4. Stocking Contest: Would you like to WIN an early Christmas gift? Grand prize will be a gift basket
valued at $500. One for each store. All of our customers (new and old) are invited to participate.

5. Pillow Case Day! :Are you looking for a fun way to use up some of your stash
while helping others? We will be holding a free, one day pillowcase making
session, where we will lead you through the steps of creating a fast and
easy pillowcase. Since they are so quick to make there will be time to stitch
several. We are hoping that you will want to stitch one or more to donate to
a local charity and or Children's Hospital. We suggest that you use
children's prints or funky brights for the ones you will be donating. We will
also be collecting pillowcases for Halloween or Christmas if you would like to
drop off some pillowcases. A supply list will be available. A light lunch will
be supplied, but if you like, bring along a potluck dish to share.

6. New! Infinity Quilt: The Infinity quilt is really popular as it can
be made by ANYONE who has an embroidery machine: beginners to
advanced embroiderers. A beginner embroidery machine with a hoop
size of 5×5 inches (or larger) is all you need. This quilt as you go
quilt will teach you embroidery placement and some great quilting
techniques.

elegance to your decor with this charming pillow. You'll use one
motif in four ways to really experiment with different
mediums so you can see where your embroidery machine can

stencils, and crystal templates, paint and a clothsetter.

9. Feathered Star: With HoopSisters you can make perfectly quilted,
pieced, and decoratively stitched quilt blocks all in the hoop of an
embroidery machine. The 2013 EmbroidaBlock of the Month program
combines the fun and unique HoopSisters technique with digitized quilting
by Sharon Schamber, Master Quilter. Come in and see our sample, this
truly is a work of art. Pattern is only available by taking the class.

the joys of crisp winter days with plenty of snowflakes, snowmen, ice skates,

will include the pattern (with full-color block photos), fabrics, and embroidery

12. Embroidery Club for All Embroidery Machines: We are starting a
whole new embroidery club with a whole new line up of projects.
Sep we will make fun magnets all in the hoop, Oct we will be making
a Poppy Plastic Bag Holder, Nov will be Christmas decorations made
in the hoop. All great projects that would make great gifts and are
just fun to make. This club has been designed to
work on all current brands and models of
embroidery machine with a min 5” x 7” hoop, if you
are not sure if your machine will work give us a call
to confirm. This club is a great way for the
beginner or the experienced embroiderer to become more familiar with their
embroidery machine. There will be a new project each month with new techniques
learned each month.

Cake Therapy: If you haven’t already attended one of these sessions,
then it’s time you did to find out what you are missing. All we are going to
tell you for now is that it will take place once a month at both shops;
Thursday evenings and then the following Saturday morning. There are
NO FEES for these sessions, but there will be cake! And of course coffee
and tea too! What quilter doesn’t need “Therapy”, so sign up today to
reserve your spot. This club will be a combination of Strip Club and Cake
Therapy for those who have attended Strip Club in the past.

17. Sewing Machine Level 1: This class will cover the basics of learning to
operate your machine. Threading your machine, winding your bobbin, tension
top and bottom , straight stitch, stitch length dials, stitch width dials
,needle up and down buttons, reverse, tension on zig zag ,dropping feed dogs,
needle positions, presser foot pressure, threads. For those of you who just
purchased a sewing machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk this would be lesson number 1.

18. Sewing Machine Level 2: This class includes different types of
buttonholes blind hem , rolled hem, sewing on buttons, stretch

20. Serger Class Level 1: Do you have a serger, but don’t understand
threading and tensions? This course will teach you how to thread your
machine, balance your tensions, lock that stitch at the end of your seam
and sew: inside corners, outside corners, inside curves and outside
curves.

21. Serger Class Level 2: In level 2 we move onto 3thread serging. You will learn about 3-thread wide, 3-thread narrow, 3-thread
decorative, rolled hem, lettuce edge, pin tucks and spaghetti straps.

30. Get to Know Your MC8900: Learn to use the features of the
MC8900 by creating a quilt sampler. Our sample will showcase many
of the machine’s capabilities such as button holes, appliqué stitches,
mirror imaging, the dual feed feet, cloth guide, the list goes on. You
will leave this class knowing so much more about how to use your
machine and a few new tips on how to do things on your MC8900.

Walking Foot Quilting: How do you know where to quilt? Choosing patterns
and planning what to do can be easier than you think. Using your walking foot is
the easiest way to finish quilting some of those tops we all have. We will discuss
threads and tips and tricks. Bring a quilt already basted with pins, thread or
spray baste, and we will make a plan for it and get it underway.

lap sized quilt, 42 x 52. They will learn fabric selection and
preparation, rotary cutting, piecing, block joining, basting the
layers, as well as the basics of machine and hand quilting in the six

complicated than it is and will teach you everything you need to
know to move on to more advanced projects.

37. Storm at Sea: We will use Marti Michell’s pattern and template
set to simplify this traditionally complicated quilt pattern. Come
and find out how straight lines can give you the illusion of curves
and how easy templates can be to use. You will need the “Storm at
Sea” template set as well as set “A” to make a 9” block or set “B” to
make a 12” block.

38. The Witch is In 18” x 36”: Back by popular demand! Join us to create this fun
and whimsical wall hanging for Halloween. Fusible machine appliqué techniques will
be taught as this wall hanging is created. Pre- class preparation is required.

39. Christmas Star Log Cabin: Another scrap project
but the scraps are planned out. The sample uses
whites, and a mixture of reds and Christmas prints. It would make a

Christmas colour theme or use any colour plan of your choice. Precutting strips will make the project come together quickly.

41. Scrap Workshop - No Peeky Nine Patch: By Request This project is a great way to put some of
those scraps to work. By precutting the squares and turn them into blocks ready for a quilt. This
time we are going to be using only black and red and white. We can call it our newspaper quilt – you
know – black and white and red (read) all over. Cut 270 2-1/2" squares before class. We will explore
the many setting possibilities to make your one of a kind quilt.

42. Marble Pools: The Marble Pools quilt uses one simple block in two color
ways. Blocks are composed of pool rims and pools. The color placement of
rims creates an illusion of three dimensions. Come and learn how to stitch
this block and how colour placement makes this block look 3D.

45. Easy as ABC & 123 Pattern: An excellent choice for a beginner project, looks
complicated but goes together, “Easy as ABC & 123.” This is a fat quarter friendly
pattern which uses just one block to create an intriguing design. Instructions for six
sizes are included in the pattern: Crib (35" x 53"), Lap (57" x 75""), Twin (78" x
96"), Full (88" x 97"), Queen (99" x 99"), and King (108" x 108"). In class you can
make a crib or lap quilt.

46. Cats Meow: Whether you are a cat lover or know some-one that loves cats, this quilt pattern is a
must have. Seven adorable embroidery appliqué cats and five additional cat
related designs complete this collection. We will use these designs to make a
fun must have wall hanging. This project uses a 7” x 11” Hoop so if you have a
Janome this can be done on the MA Hoop for the MC11000 or MC12000.

delightful wall hanging can be created using only two fabrics. Once you

48. Retro Heart 20 x 20: Another great Heart pattern. Surprise! This pattern highlights the importance
of value: dark outline, inside light and outside medium. This is a great way to use up some of those
tone on tones we all collect. Four blocks will give you a 40 inch square lap-sized quilt. It’s a fun easy
pattern that goes together with strips.

49. Three-D Log Cabin: This is a “how-to” class, but written instructions will be
given on how to make a small table runner. This fun block can make a cushion
front, a tote bag front or whatever else you’d like to make out of it. Once you’ve
learned the “how”, the rest is up to you. The folded strips of the log cabin give
it a 3-D effect which looks harder than it is, and can easily be made out of
scraps or co-coordinating fabrics – the choice is yours.

55. Hearts and Stars Revisited: This is such a cool pattern. It’s actually a
non-pattern. It’s a great technique to make small pieced stars set on a
diagonal. When you put them together a cute little wonky star appears.
This is another great scrap project and you can make as many as you want
to make a quilt of any size. It would also go together to make a great table
runner. And as you know, hearts can be any colour.
