For information call Dick Bishop, 989 529 3324. Fellow Carvers, I hope everyone is enjoying summer. I got off to a busy start and enjoying the warm weather. We had a table set up at Cabelas in May and Haithco Saginaw County park in June. We had displays with what we do along with handouts for our August fundraiser Show. Dick Bishop also passed out fliers at Bay City State park. Everyone will receive tickets soon. It is important for our club as it takes money to have a club. If we want to see guest speakers at some of our meetings, we will have to generate money. July 7 is our Club Picnic, everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. Our club is supplying Brats and Hot dogs, Buns, paper plates, plastic ware. People who want to help set up at the Zoo be there at 5:30pm. Eating will begin at 6:00pm. Dick Bishop gave me a copy of the Bay City Times article titled “Wood Carvers display, demo slated at library.” Good job to Dick and everyone that helped at Alice and Jack Wirt Public Library. If you are going to carve there in July please confirm with Dick Bishop. Have a great summer and see you at the Zoo on July 7. Old Business . If you know of someone sick or in the Hospital contact Butch Urban (989) 790-1376, bju47@hotmail.com or bjurban@juno.com . The picnic is July 7. Paper plates, plastic, and cups will be provided. Everyone should bring a dish to pass. Mr. Draper was invited to come along with his family. New Business There was discussion on whether to allow carving during the meeting. It was decided that there is no problem with it if carvers are quiet and respect the fact there is a meeting in progress. Afterward carvers will be expected to clean up. Gerald Willis announced that the Brew at the Zoo Fundraiser is June 18. Seminars. So far one person has signed up for the Bob Thurston Carving Seminar. Show. Starting to sell tables. So far 3 vendor, 3 carver, 2 for featured carver. Phil will distribute tickets at the picnic. Show Notes. This year the show is coming along nicely. We have a nice selection of vendors committed to come. Tables are beginning to sell. The chain saw carver is committed to come. We will have soap carving which is being organized by Gary Klender. Dick Bishop has been distributing several of our fliers in Bay City. The church youth will once again provide food for carvers. The Boy Scouts will be available to help set up and put tables away afterwards. We continue to need help advertising. Class size will be limited to ten carvers. Call 7813846 to registor for the class. Carving seminars: If you are interested in attending a carving seminar please contact me at 989 781-3846 or one of the club officers. Let us know the best time for you to attend and what you would like to carve. We have several local carvers who teach and we can bring in someone if enough people request it. Station 3 is on Center just north of Gratiot AREA ACTIVITIES Ed Sowulewski’s Wolf Carving Demo at Wirt Library Our members have been invited to demo carve at the Bay County Jack and Alice Wirt Library. We will be carving from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday July 25th. We will be on the ground floor near the east entrance by the parking lot. If you want to be part of these carving sessions please contact Dick Bishop, 989 529 3324. We will try to accommodate your schedule if you can only carve a part of the time scheduled. The Library has offered to supply the tables and chairs. This is a great opportunity to advertise our show and the Tri City Carvers. Further information will follow. Carving at the Farmers Market We will be carving at the Downtown Saginaw Farmer's Market again this year. Our dates are all on Fridays. These dates are July 17, August 14 (one week before our show), and September 18. I will be looking for folks to carve as in the past. Dick Bit of Humor Experience is a wonderful thing.
