from
Central Coast DRL
Terrigal v Berkeley Vale
Duffys Road Oval
Northern Lakes v Kincumber
Gumbuyah Oval
Sadly we open this report by passing
on everyone’s deepest sympathy to the
family, friends and team mates of
Greg Gibbins, William and Piper Kulk.
Woy Woy v Toukley
Rogers Park
Erina v Central Wyong
Erina Oval
Unfortunately the weather gods did not
favour us over the Easter break. The four
unplayed fixtures will be played on the
weekend of 9th and 10th May, 2015.
Ourimbah v Umina
Sohier Park
Wyong v The Entrance
Morry Breen Oval
The two games which were played resulted
in two very interesting results considering
the present situation – the much heralded
The Entrance had an 18 all draw with
Berkeley Vale while the supposed
underdogs Terrigal won convincingly against
Erina.
What a week to start the season, we had
the shock resignation of our President Fred
Hartup. On behalf of the Executive and
Management Committees we would like to
thank Fred for his many years of service to
the CCDRL, the game would be on a much
lower level on the Central Coast if Fred had
not contributed his time and experience for
as long as he did.
The Executive Committee

The Rapid Clean Reserve Grade Tigers started off the 2015 season in a positive fashion with a 20-0
win over Berkeley Vale. In what was a real team performance, our defence, especially on our try line,
was the most pleasing aspect of the game. Our ball control was pretty good considering the conditions.
Hopefully the weather will allow for an opportunity to get back on the training paddock this week as we
prepare for our first home game of the season against Ourimbah. Best for the Tigers were Ryan Doherty,
Jack Ellison and Harley Waters. Go the Tigers!

It was a good start for the Treasury Wines Estates Open Aged team. After a solid first half we went to the
break 18 nil up. This was thanks to a great defensive effort where we held Berka out for 5 consecutive
sets. The second half was a bit scrappy but this is to be expected in our first outing as a team. Everyone
put in a good effort. Special mention goes to the boys from last years under 19s team Ryan Jelley and
Dylan Davis, keep up the good work boys and you will go up to higher grades in no time. I’d also like to

After a long pre-season The Central Coast Cleaning Contractors First Grade

ordinary kick from Scott Jones was toed through and the Tigers spread the ball to the opposite side of
the field for Harley Ridge to score in the corner. After more good lead up work from Jones, Grant Nelson
scored in the corner. Unfortunately, all conversions were missed in the soggy conditions and the Tigers
took a 12-6 lead into the break. To Berkeley Vales credit they started the 2nd half full of confidence and
soon took an 18-12 advantage. To the boys credit the Tigers fought back to level at 18 all when Matt
Hardes scored and Matt Killick converted for a grandstand finish. A draw was probably a fitting end to an
exciting game that was played in tough conditions. Best for the Tigers were Matt Hardes who kept the
defence guessing all day, Tom Moloney who was strong up front and Troy Adams who worked tirelessly
all day.

wet Easter Friday, our boys played against a squad of 24 players from The Entrance. Going in
with 3 on our bench the boys fitness was very good. The main issue of the game was poor ball handling,
allowing The Entrance plenty of ball in our 20m zone. Whilst our defence was stoic, ultimately the weight
of possession saw The Entrance score 3 quick tries in the first 15 mins taking the score to 16-0.
It wasn’t until will held on to the ball we almost scored a try through a kick along the ground, only for the
ball to go dead in goal, just before a flying Lachie Dawson was able to reach it. Mounting pressure from
the Entrance’s own handling errors and penalties, saw a slick backline move result in Ben Neville crashing over the line from close range. The kick was unsuccessful.
Half time brought more handling errors and penalties from us resulting in another Entrance try just after
half time. 22-4. Again, once we held onto the ball, we were the better side with Bailey Grim putting Trent
Pye through a great hole to storm over the fullback to score. This was followed up by another great forward drive finished off with a Ben Neville cut-out pass to put Corey Allard over in the corner. With only
1 out of 3 conversions the score was 22 – 14 with around 10 mins to go. But story of the day, poor ball
handling once again allowed the Entrance to halt our comeback and score again.
Final score 28-14. 3-points went to Jayden Bailey, 2 points to Ben Neville and 1 Point to Trent Pye.

Sharks NEWS
The Terrigal-Wamberal Sharks kicked off the season with an impressive
effort in firsts and while being beaten in the lower grades there was some
encouraging signs, especially when the club can get onto Duffy’s Road
and do some serious training
The Sharks Under Nineteens kicked off the day being defeated by Erina 18 - 12 after trailing 10 - 6
at the break. The Sharks were down on their attacking stars due to the reps but a great defensive
effort kept them in the hunt until Erina scored late in the game to seal victory. Best for the Sharks
and the Coaches Award went to Logan Morley who was a mountain of strength in the middle of the
park, Josh Starr got the two points and a share of the Players Player award with a great display
around the rucks while Jake Gow got the one point with a strong defensive effort. John Symington
showed plenty of potential and shared the Players Player award.
The Sharks Ladies League Tag side were outplayed by the Eagles ladies but never gave up. The
side is young and bristling with talent and are looking for a couple of ‘older’ ladies to help guide
them around the paddock. Best for the Sharks was Brittany Starr who led the attack and tried to
get the side moving forward, the two points went to Shannon Higgins, while the one point went
to Rhiannon Hall. Players Player was Renee Maher who had a solid all round game while the
Coaches Award went to Brianna Hunter who showed plenty of enthusiasm.
The Sharks reserve grade side lost 18 - 6 to the Eagles after trailing 12 - 0 at the break. With a
team made up of experience and youth the Sharks tried valiantly against the strong Erina combination and it took a late try to put them out of business. Best for the Sharks was Adam Fullbrook
who played strongly in attack and defence, the two points went to Luke Houghton who made
plenty of meters in attack while the one point and Players Player award went to a returning Dillon
Selby who was strong around the rucks. The Coaches award went to Tyler Johnson who directed
the side around the paddock.
The Sharks first grade side opened the season with a first half scoring blitz to lead the Eagles
30 - 6 at the break, while the second half was restricted to a try a piece as the Sharks ran out winners 34 - 10. The Sharks attack was impressive as some quality ball to the outside backs gave
the side plenty of valuable meters and some strong defence kept the Eagles in check. Best for the
Sharks was new recruit Bladen Baird who got through a mountain of work, the two points went to
Josh Dias who put in a solid all round effort while the one point was shared between the halves,
brothers Matt and Chad Sharp. The Players Player award went to a hard hitting Scott Schreiber
while the Coaches Award went to dynamo fullback Josh Harman.

It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our friend, team mate

Gibbo played the majority of his Junior footy with the Warriors before joining the
Senior ranks in 2003 at the age of 16, his talent having already been identified.

Gibbo played 111 games for the Warriors and was a point scoring machine, during his
senior career crossing for 61 tries whilst proving handy with the boot landing 199 goals.
Gibbo was more than passionate about his Rugby League and was always looking for
ways to improve and get the most out of his game, he was highly respected by his
teammates and they always knew a try from Gibbo was always in the offing,
whilst they knew he could be relied upon in their moment of need.
Welcome to all Erina players and supporters at Toukley today.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, supporters, Erina and Terrigal mini teams for
your attendance and support last week.
Erina RLFC extend our sympathies to Wyong RLFC, Budgewoi JRLFC and the affected families losing
loved ones in such tragic circumstances recently.
First grade - a disappointing start for 2015 with The Eagles first round loss to a strong Terrigal side.
With little possession and some poor decisions, The Eagles struggled to gain any edge or control
against a side who played the smarter football. A big welcome to Kene Te Whata and Adam Tippett,
both new to Erina this year, with strong performances by both in today’s game.
Reserve grade - welcome everyone to another season of footy. It was nice to see everyone back and
also some new & old familiar faces. Erina reserve grade this year is a mix of young, new & not so old
experienced players. Our first game was against Terrigal which is always a good contest. Game day
was wet but the field was looking good despite the rain. Everyone was keen to get the first game of
season started & hopefully ending with a win. Right from kick-off the game was being played across
the park despite wet conditions. Erina’s attack was in safe hands with the new halves combo Deano
& Jono showing their skills. Defence was up to the task, showing if you keep structure & composure,
the opposition find it hard to break through. Both teams spent time attacking respective try lines, but
Erina’s defence stuck strong and ended up with the win.

Gibbo also spent time with The Entrance, before switching to the Wyong Roos last year
and we are sure he had the same positive impact at both of these clubs that he
created and has left at the Warriors.

TOUKLEY
Hawks NEWS
Welcome back everyone!
TOUKLEY RLFC All teams are looking forward to getting on the paddock after last weeks washout. This will now be played on Sunday 10th May at DKO
It has been a busy off season for the mighty Hawks as we prepare to make a mark in our tenth season
since returning to first grade.
There are many players returning from 2014, several former juniors who have come home and other
new faces joining the squad - as well as the emergence of many more club juniors from our premiership
winning
UMINA under
BEACH 17s - all of which combines for a very exciting 2015 for the blue and golds, as does the
debutR.L.F.C.
of our ladies league tag team, who have already added an exciting dimension to our club. The
only downside was the fact we were not able to field an under 19s, although this is balanced out largely
by the fact that the majority of these young players have stuck with the club and will step into our grade
teams, which is also exciting. Across the board we have a great blend of youth and experience and are
primed for a big 2015.
HUBS MEMBERSHIP
We simply must give a huge thank you to all of our HUBS (Hawks United Brothers and Sisters) members.
Our HUBS program was launched late last year and given early indications, we hope that it will be a real
game changer for our club.
This membership model has many different options from securing sponsors, to running raffles or simply
donating $10 per week and has already made a big difference to how we can operate our footy club.
We are hoping to steadily build our HUBS supporter base throughout the year and into the future so
please talk to one of our marketing team if you are interested in coming on board. A huge thank you to
those already committed to the HUBS concept – your support is very much valued and appreciated.
SPONSORS
We would also like to thank all of our generous sponsors including the following;
