Dear
members,
Welcome to the February edition of our eNewsletter! As we look towards lighter
evenings and the appearance of pretty white snowdrops here in Yorkshire, we
can’t help but feel a sense of excitement about the new spring designs and
yarns which have been launched this season.
We take a closer look at one of these in the form of the stunning new Truesilk;
most definitely one of the favourite debut yarns of the team here at the mill.
We also hear about an exciting new project supporting our local yarn shops,
discover details of a stunning new book from Sarah Hatton and bring you
updates on our knit-a-long.
We hope you enjoy!

Yarn Shop Day
Get involved with the Love Your Yarn Shop Campaign from Aceville Publications
On Saturday 3rd May 2014, yarn shops across the UK will be celebrating Yarn Shop
Day, the fantastic new initiative from leading publications Let’s Knit and Let’s Get
Crafting.
The event, the first of its kind, is supported by the industry, and with extensive media
coverage behind it promises to boost the profile of bricks and mortar yarn stores. Each
store that signs up to the campaign is encouraged to host its own special events,
including anything from free tea and cake to star appearances by big industry names.
It’s a chance for yarn shops to remind their customers of the fantastic, irreplaceable,
personal service they provide.
Let’s Knit editor Sarah Neal explains the concept, “As knitters ourselves, we know the
value of a good yarn store. As well as providing the unequalled pleasure of buying yarn
off the shelf, they offer experienced face-to-face advice and are often a communal
meeting place for likeminded crafters. The Love Your Yarn Shop campaign is aimed at
alerting consumers to the benefits of supporting these stores.”
Let’s Get Crafting editor Ella Johnston agrees, adding, “We know that the crafty
community will really get behind Love Your Yarn Shop and Yarn Shop Day and look
forward to celebrating our local stores – a truly valuable resource for knitters and
crocheters.”

Rowan Loves… 10 Simple Crochet Projects by Sarah Hatton
Sarah Hatton takes the biggest upcoming trend from the catwalk by storm by creating
a charming collection of ten simple crochet projects launching this February.
Sarah says of the book, “The latest in my simple knits series has just been launched
and is something of a departure from the series as it is 10 simple crochet projects.
Crochet is set to be a huge trend on the catwalks this season and, as many people
find the first steps into crochet terrifying, it seems like the perfect time for such a book.”
Designs range from stunning collar and cowl accessories, to a pretty shrug and stylish
hats, all worked in Rowan yarns, of course!
