2015-2016 Cheerleading Tryout Information Please keep this page for your own records Monday, May 4th Physicals offered at CMS after school. Physical exams are $10 and each cheer applicant must have a physical dated May 1st 2015 or later Cheer Applications due to your child’s school counselor. Cheer tryouts at CMS from 5:30-7:00 PM. The 2015-2016 team will be announced Mandatory practice after school 3:00 – 5:00 PM. At 5:15 PM, we will have a mandatory parent meeting in the Library Media Center. All parents are required to come to this meeting. Mandatory leadership retreat at Ladysmith Village. Tuesday, May 5th Wednesday, May 6th Friday, May 8th Monday, May 11th Saturday, June 6th Requirements Must be passing all 4 academic subjects and physical education Satisfactory conduct in school and on the bus Physical coordination Athleticism Ability to learn, display cheer and dance routines taught Willingness to work with group Ability to work well with coach and peers Willingness to exercise self-discipline Ability to accept constructive criticism Attendance at all practices and scheduled events Financing of needed items and for camp Attendance at summer camp in August Rising Sixth Graders MUST be able to tumble to try out: Tumbling includes backhandsprings, tucks, layouts, or any other skill more difficult than those stated Students must complete the attached (1) form and (2) submit a copy of your 4th nine weeks interim report no later than Tuesday May 5, 2015. The forms must be signed by parents as indicated, or students cannot stay after school and may not participate in any of the activities. Tryouts consist of the following: Proper attire for tryout session is shorts, a neat t-shirt, tennis shoes and socks. Hair must be neat, out of the face and off the neck. No sweat pants please. There should be no jewelry of ANY kind. There should be no chewing gum. No food or drinks will be allowed into the practice area. You will need to drop off your child at 5:30 and pick them up at 7:00 PM. This year we are looking for 12-14 cheerleaders. Members will be chosen based on their abilities, attitudes, and general qualifications to represent the school in extracurricular activities. The squad will cheer for football games and girl’s basketball games in the fall and boy’s basketball games in the winter. They will also participate in 3-4 cheer competitions in the late winter/early spring. The members of the squad will be announced on Friday, May 8, 2015 through individual notes sent to each person trying out. There cannot be any spectators for final judging or any of the practice days. This distracts the girls participating and distracts the judges. Those qualifying will need to be able to attend summer camp at Caroline High School in August. Transportation will need to be provided for your child. These practices are mandatory. Special note for Judging and Tryouts: Candidates may NOT wear any items, which reflect cheerleading status. This includes shirts, shorts, printed ribbon and socks. Please plan ahead to eliminate this problem. *****NOTE: At this time, final judging will be held on Wednesday, May 6th. In the event of changes in dates, students will be notified in advance.
