Potatoes
Larger baking potato, 70ct and larger, market is expected to remain
firm until new pack. Quality is currently being reported as good on all sizes.
Lettuce Supplies are light and demand has increased. A few shippers in Salinas
are sold out. Supplies should improve in the middle of May. Markets will gain
strength. Quality is fair to good.
Onions Mexico harvest nearly over. Texas now shipping good volume. Quality is
reported as good on all sizes and colors. Markets are steady.
Tomatoes Florida shipping out of new fields, production is steady. Mexico’s
round tomatoes in good supply. The increase in volume has held markets
steady to lower.
Strawberries
California production is steady. The increase in demand for
Mother’s Day may cause supplies fall short. Look for markets to firm through
the first half of May.
Grapes Now shipping imported grapes from Chile. Mexico’s harvest is on the
horizon. Red seedless grape market is holding steady on medium to large fruit.
Apples
Washington and Michigan sizes are running 100ct and larger. Smaller
apples 113 to 138 count, will be in short supply.
