Welcome to this week’s discussion guide for your Spiritual Living Circle. This material is designed to

you with discussion questions for that article.

This week we look at "Creating Authentic Power" by Harvey Bishop
Discussion Questions written by Rev. Robert Franklin, RScP
The author points out a challenge Gary Zukav wrestled with in the following statements, "When I first
heard someone mention that there is such a thing as karma, I exploded" recalls Zukav. "I exclaimed,
'What about the Holocaust? Do you think that is just? What about slavery? Do you think that is
just? What about the suffering and the violence that exists everywhere? Do you think that is just?'"
1.) What is your understanding about the concept of karma?
2.) How does karma show up in your daily life experience?
3.) Have you ever had similar thoughts in attempting to grasp the significant role karma plays in those
events that capture the headlines throughout the world? Expand on your thoughts during your group
discussion.
Zukav is quoted as saying, "I realize I could spend the rest of my life as an activist against this or
that. Or I could do what I am doing now, devoting my life to transforming the consciousness that
produces all these heinous and destructive things."
4.) How does the above statement resonate with your current state of consciousness?
5.) Have you ever contemplated a similar path as Zukav has chosen, in transforming the
consciousness that produces undesirable occurrences in your local community and throughout the
world?
6.) How can you, in this moment, be the change you would like to see in the world?
7.) What do you need to release or acquire for you to be a conduit of change for the betterment of life?
Zukav believes that humans are evolving to a "greater spiritual awareness beyond the five senses",
what he terms "multisensory perception".
8.) In your own words, define multisensory. Is this a term that you are comfortable with in describing
your current state of evolved consciousness? If yes, why is this so? If not, what must you allow
yourself to become to be able to incorporate this concept in your life?
The author eludes that Zukav equates "the emergence of compassion" with creating "authentic
power." He goes on to state, "creating authentic power is not for someone else to do. It is for you to
do."
9.) Do you accept this call to action?
10.) What must you become to implement this new evolved consciousness in your every-moment
experience?
11.) When will you begin this next chapter in your life?
