Handel TENNY RUPNICK, PROVISIONAL ELDER You are invited to attend the Commissioning and Ordination Service on Monday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Florence Civic Center in Florence, SC to witness our own Tenny Rupnick being commissioned a Provisional Elder in the United Methodist Church. Tenny will be in worship with us on Sunday, May 31 so we can present her with the Bible that will be used by Bishop Holsten when she is commissioned. Tenny has been appointed to full time position as a senior pastor of Ebenezer UMC located between Johnsonville and Hemingway, SC in the Florence District. She and her family will live in the parsonage and Matt will commute to work. You may want to stay overnight at Annual Conference and sign up to help with the Stop Hunger Now packing event on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. DONATIONS NEEDED!! We are asking for donations of $10 per camper to help purchase steaks for the “Salkehatchie Thank You” dinner on Friday, June 19th. LAURENS SALKEHATCHIE SUMMER SERVICE CAMP Saturday, June 13 to Saturday, June 20th We will be hosting approximately 65 youth and adults from around the state of S.C. in our church. They will be sleeping in Sunday School classrooms and eating breakfast, lunch, and some dinners at our church. We will have a covered-dish dinner on Sunday, June 14th after worship so we can show our hospitality and welcome. We ask that you come and bring extra food so we can feed 65 extra youth and adults besides ourselves. You can bring your food to the kitchen before Sunday School or worship to keep it cold or warm. SC HUNGER PROJECT MEAL PACKAGING PROGRAM The South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church will be hosting a “Stop Hunger Now” Meal packaging event June 9th at the Florence Civic Center during the 2015 Annual Conference. Volunteers are needed to help package meals on June 9th. Shift times are: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Noon to 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Volunteer or donate at: www.umcsc.org. Our church has sent in $300 toward this hunger project. HEALTH MISSION PROJECT We will continue to collect soap and/or body wash for the month of May for the Laurens County Memorial Home. A box is located outside the Church Office in which to place your items. PRAYER BEADS On Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30 p.m. you are welcome to come and join the fun as Hope Deason leads us in making prayer beads. You may purchase a kit for $12 that will include everything that you need. You are asked to bring a small towel. If you have needle-nosed plyers and wire cutters please bring them as well.
