REPORTS TO: Vice President, Corporate Communications SUMMARY: Employee Communications is a centralized function providing counsel, coaching and support to leaders company-wide and sets and implements a strategy to communicate with and effectively engage 10,000-plus employees. NRG is seeking a Senior Director of Internal Communications to lead the internal communications department and develop, implement and track the effectiveness of a comprehensive internal communications strategy that furthers organizational objectives. NRG is looking for a creative, strategic thinker to help reinvent its internal communications program. NRG has doubled in size over a few years and needs to rethink its approach to engage and communicate with its exploding workforce across all areas of the company. NRG is not a typical energy company. It is looking for a dynamic person who can understand the complexities of the company strategy and translate them into ideas to continually motivate and excite the employee base. This role regularly interacts with the NRG executive team, so this person should be confident, personable and quick. Experience in Corporate Communications, within an established corporate environment, to serve as a valued partner to NRG’s executive team and to leaders across all areas of their business, and to communicate and support their company-wide business goals and vision, is ideal. This person will report to the Vice President of Corporate Communications, and be a proactive, creative problemsolver and idea generator with the ability to clearly shape the message. RESPONSIBILITIES: o Create and execute a comprehensive communications plan; develop consistent, company-wide communications practices aligned with the corporate purpose and employee commitment. o Build employee clarity and engagement with leadership and goals as well as with company purpose and strategies in a manner that inspires discretionary effort. o Support the attainment of business objectives through communications that improve organizational effectiveness and enhance employee alignment with operating priorities. o Enhance the company’s retention and engagement of the talent it needs to support growth. o Support executives and partners within the enterprise to communicate effectively with employees about the company and enterprise vision, strategy, priorities, initiatives, and accomplishments. o Maintain and enhance leadership reputation and credibility. REQUIREMENTS: o Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or a related field along with at least 10 years of experience in communications. o Large company experience with 10,000-plus employees strongly preferred. o Proven track record of strategic employee communications program envisioning, planning, execution and measurement. o Confidence in providing counsel to C-Suite and executive leadership team.
