Highline’s Valentine’s Dance
Valentine’s Dance (Tentative)
Highline’s first Valentine’s Dance was a huge success. Many families
joined us for music and dancing. We sold stuffed animals, candy bars,
and pizza. There was also a raffle for $20 gift cards to Target for each
grade. Thank you to all the volunteers/staff members who helped make
this event such a success. Also thank you to all the families who came
out to help support Highline.
Our next big family event will be in May. More details to come.
Popcorn Friday
Our next Popcorn Friday is scheduled for 2015. We need at least 8 volunteers to work in two
hour sessions between 9am-2pm. Please help if you can.
Please email the PTCO at HLNPTCO@gmail.com, or stop by the office and put your contact
information in the PTCO box.
Last PTCO Meeting 2/5/15
During our last meeting we discussed the financial future of the PTCO. Current calculations
show that we will only have 20% of the funds that we would normally have at the beginning of
next school year. The last few years there has been a decline in catalog fundraising which is
held in the Fall and Spring. The PTCO will be attending a vendor’s expo in March to see what
other options are available.
We are also looking for ways to cut costs without necessarily cutting programs. The last
several years, PTCO has provided snacks to 3rd-5th grade students during State testing. This
year we are asking parents to donate individually wrapped non-perishable healthy snacks.
Some examples would be Fruit snacks, crackers, granola bars, etc. We will send out more
information on when and where you can drop off donations.
How You Can Make a Difference?
We understand that most parents work and may have a limited amount time to physically
volunteer at the school. There are several ways you can make a difference at the school or at
home:
Volunteering for School Events
Collect Box tops- Our goal for the school year is $500
Ask your child’s teacher if there is any work you can help them with at home.
Attend PTCO meetings and provide suggestions
Volunteer to be a translator. We have many families that speak other languages. SPANISH,
ARABIC, RUSSIAN, FARSI, CHINESE, are just a few examples.
Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to help your child and Highline to be successful. We believe that
with everyone’s help we can turn around our school status and shine.
