ON LEAVE
SHARING THE JOURNEY:
Alison Lyons will lead this segment of worship for April. If you would like to
promote an activity or share with the congregation, contact her on 5241 2353
or in person prior to the service.
CAKES FOR MESSY CHURCH: Each month 70 pieces of cake are needed
for sweets at Messy Church. We are very grateful to those who have been
providing them each month but feel it is not fair to expect the same people to
do it each month. If you feel you could help some months, would you please
put you name on the list which is on the whiteboard in the foyer telling us which
month you are willing to help?
ST. LUKE’S WHEELS: During April, Joy Hicks will take all ‘first
calls’. Her phone number is 5243-4284. If you have a Medical or
Pastoral appointment and require transport, please ring Jenny.
Please give 2 days’ notice.

LAUNCH OF “LIFEBOAT”: “Lifeboat” is a Geelong-based group which
seeks to provide pastoral care to established victims of church-related
sexual abuse. It comprises both professionals e.g. doctors, psychologists,
social workers, and other good people who simply want to “make a
difference” to the difficulties faced by victims. For eighteen months, in a
small but effective way, “Lifeboat” has been helping victims / survivors in
areas such as employment, accommodation, support groups, financial
assistance and advice, faith support and practical help. It assists victims
irrespective of denominational background.
Response from those assisted has been extremely positive. “Lifeboat” will
be formally launched on Wednesday April 22 at “The Pier Receptions”
(where better to launch a “lifeboat” than at “The Pier”!), Cunningham Pier,
Geelong, commencing at 7.30 p.m. and concluding around 9.15 p.m.
Speakers include Frank Costa AO, eminent Geelong psychologist Chris
Mackey, David O’Brien (former member of the Victorian Parliamentary
Inquiry), and Fr. Kevin Dillon, together with several victims / survivors
briefly telling their story of the value of “Lifeboat” for them.
This will be an informative and practical evening, where everyone will have
a chance to offer some effective help for a highly-deserving group of
wounded people. Be there!! Any enquiries – Peter McCann - 0427 350
416 or Terry O’Brien 5221 7339.
