Former senior UN counterterrorism official, Richard Barrett and Just Security’s Faiza Patel will examine efforts to counter-terrorism, both at home and abroad. Speakers: • • • Richard Barrett is a former British diplomat and intelligence officer, who headed the United Nations Monitoring Team concerning Al-Qaida and the Taliban for nearly a decade. Barrett and is a recognized expert on violent extremism and the measures that can be taken against it. Faiza Patel is a Founding Editor of Just Security, and serves as the Co-Director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law. Patel is also a member of the UN Human Rights Council’s Working Group on the Use of Mercenaries. Ryan Goodman (moderator) is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Just Security and the Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Professor of Law at NYU School of Law.
