Department of Computer Engineering A.D. Patel Institute of Technology(ADIT) Organizes a Workshop on (In Association of IEEE Student Chapter, ADIT) Social Network Analysis - A Practical Approach 12th -13th February,2015 analysis and cohesion. understanding community Looking at the interdisciplinary nature of this unique field, the workshop is targeted for students who will find a world of information and insight behind the familiar facade of the social networks. On pursuing further, participants will benefit from a perspective on the methods for analysis of constructed networks, data mining and machine learning techniques in the field of advance computing. Scope SNA – An Overview This era of fast changing world of Technology, people around the world are directly or indirectly connected by popular social networks established using webbased platforms rather than by physical proximity. Social network analysis (SNA) is the term to use network theory to analyse social networks. SNA has its roots in sociology and mathematics (graph theory). It combines the concept of the sociogram (a visual representation of relationships in a social group) with elements of graph theory to analyze patterns of interaction among people in various kinds of networks, allowing quantitative comparisons between different network structures. Objective Over recent years, there has been a nascent involvement in supporting social media analysis for marketing, opinion Today’s telecom service providers and Internet-based social network sites hold large amount of data about their users and want to interpret adequate information from the data. A possible facilitator for this is a cost efficient solution for social data management and SNA. The traditional data warehouse based solutions are usually not cost efficient enough. To overcome this, low cost and highly scalable data management and processing technologies from cloud computing society should be brought in to help. Topics to be covered Methods and tools for research and practical applications in the area of Social Network Analysis will be covered. Linux Administration and Networking Socket Programming, SSH Big Data and Map Reduce (Data Mining) framework – Hadoop Basics of Cloud/Virtualization and Programming on EC2/XEN/PAAS Open source Programming Various techniques for data acquisition, statistical network analysis, visualization, data mining & cloud based software toolsets.
