Principal’s Report
circumstances are students to cross the road by
themselves to a waiting parent or carer. Please consider
the safety of all students. Traffic signs are in place and are
enforceable by law.
Dear Parents/Carers
Team China
This morning we farewelled Georgia W, Poppy K, Isabella
W, Alex E and their two teachers Kim Kirkpatrick and
Aimee Welton. The group will depart from Melbourne at
lunchtime and will arrive in Shanghai, China at
approximately 7:30pm. We look forward to following their
travels via their blog: http://teamchina.global2.vic.edu.au/
 Edwards Road
Edwards Road is another area causing significant safety
concerns. If you are crossing Edwards Road with your
child/ren please ensure that you model the correct use of
the school crossing. If parking along Edwards Road please
ensure you adhere to the parking signs. The Traffic
Operation Group has indicated that they will continue to
monitor this area.
Thank-you for your assistance in making sure all of our
students are safe.
Student Safety
Members of our school community are reminded to have
conversations with their child/ren about personal safety at
all times, and particularly on the way to and from school.
Please ensure your child/ren knows which route they are
expected to take and always encourage them to walk in
pairs or small groups. Also talk with them about appropriate
strategies if they encounter someone they do not know, or
who makes them feel uncomfortable.
Student Reports
th
Semester 1 student reports will be distributed on Friday 19
June, and will be followed up with Student Led
rd
Conferences on Tuesday 23 June.
Queen’s Birthday – Public Holiday
th
A reminder that Monday 8 June is a public holiday. There
will be no school on this day.
Student Led Conference
Student Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday
rd
23 June. Students will only attend for their conference on
this day. Meeting times will be booked on-line. Meeting
nd
times will also be available after school on Monday 22
June.
Cold Weather
As mentioned last week we have been
concerned about the number of children
who
have
not
been
dressing
appropriately for the colder weather,
especially when we have had so much
illness across the school. This week there
has been an obvious improvement in this
area and I would like to thank you for your support in this
matter.
th
The booking system will open on Friday 12 June. The
necessary code will be provided in The Link closer to this
date.
Prep 2016 - Enrolment
All parents who are intending to enrol their child in Prep at
Kennington for next year, 2016, should collect an
Information Pack from the school office. The pack
includes information pertinent to KPS including the Great
Start Transition Program and includes the official school
enrolment form. The enrolment form and a copy of the
child’s birth certificate and immunisation record must be
th
returned to school by Friday 26 June, 2015.
Traffic Issues
 Disabled Parking
We have some designated disabled parks
on the school grounds. Parking in these
spaces without a Disabled Pass is against
the law and an infringement notice can be
issued. We encourage all holders of a
Disabled Pass to also consider our students
that have difficulty walking long distances
when choosing to park in these designated
spaces for long periods of time.
This date is set by the Department of Education. If your
child has additional needs including a medical diagnosis,
language difficulties, is involved with any Early
Intervention services, or if you just have a worry or
concern about your child, please make an appointment to
see me as soon as possible. If your child is hearing
impaired please contact Ms Marg Tope, the leader of the
Deaf Facility through the school office.
 On-site Car Parking
The traffic flow on the school ground has
improved greatly with the introduction of the
new parking arrangements; however, the
safety of students in the car parking areas
near the school roundabout is of concern.
Students are asked not to cross the road/s
without parents or carers in attendance. Under no

In order to improve communications between school and
home we have recently purchased a school phone app that
works on iPhones and android devices. The school will
send out regular notifications via this app including
reminders of upcoming events as well as links to
newsletters. The app is called Konnective and can be
downloaded free of charge from the App store or Google
Play on your phone. Once you have downloaded the app
you will need to register via the app.
In the My

School from the list of schools available and ‘join this
school.’ An A4 flyer is attached to the LINK, to assist you
with downloading the app and registering.
