Dear Parents/Carers
Education Maintenance Allowance 2015
It is really important for parents/carers to be aware that
there will be no EMA in 2015. This will mean that on

covered by you.

There will be no school on

hold one this year. We will try again next year.
Grade Structure in 2015 & Parent Input
I ask that all families seeking to enrol their child in Prep at
Kennington PS next year to have their enrolment forms
completed as soon as possible. If your child will not be
attending Kennington PS in 2015, we would appreciate
you letting us know.
Snakes
We have reports of sightings of snakes
in the area, especially near and around
the reservoir. Please discuss with your
children appropriate response if a snake
is sighted.
If there are any concerns about placements for students
in 2015, that you have not already discussed with your
child’s teacher, Jo Menzel, Trudi Jacobson or myself,
th
please let us know in writing by Thursday, 30
October.
Regional Athletic Sports
These sports were held on Monday at the Athletics
Complex in Flora Hill. It is pleasing for our school
community when we receive excellent feedback about the
behaviour and participation of our students at these
events. Following the sports on Monday I received an
email which read in part…. ‘Congratulations to all the
athletes yesterday. They all looked so pleased to be there
competing.’
As a result of results at these sports we have 13 students
representing Kennington Primary School at the State
th
Championships to be held in Melbourne on Monday 27
October.
Please note that it is not possible for parents to request
specific teachers.

The KPS webpage also provides extra information and is

Less than one in five Victorian kids walk to school
regularly, at a time when childhood obesity is rising to
epidemic levels. Since 2006, VicHealth's Walk to School
has aimed to tackle this worrying trend by encouraging
Victorian primary students to walk to and from school
more often. Younger children are encouraged to walk
with their parents and older children on their own (when
their parents decide it's safe).
Congratulations to all the students involved.

Sunday 2nd November – 6:00pm
Bendigo Stadium
Dear Parents and Carers,
You and your family are invited to attend a fundraising
dinner for the Energy Breakthrough (EB) Teams. The
Bendigo Stadium will kindly donate 50% of the total
meals bill to Kennington Primary School to support the
EB teams. The invitation extends to all in the KPS
community.
On arrival each family chooses a table to dine at, orders
and pays for the meals at the counter, mentions that they
are with KPS and then simply enjoys their meals. You
may sit with your own family and friends or join others
from the KPS community.
In order to confirm numbers with the stadium so that
enough tables can be reserved for KPS, please contact
the school office by Wednesday 22nd October to
indicate how many people will be attending. If you require
a high chair for your group, please let us know when you
book in your numbers. If you have any questions
regarding this event, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
