English
We have a Literacy Block each day that consists of
Speaking and Listening, Reading and Viewing, and

The Link
The Link is the main form of communication with you so
please ensure that your child brings it home. The Link will
be sent home with the youngest child in each family or
look on www.kenningtonps.vic.edu.au. The Link will be
published on Thursdays. Sometimes, where we need to
ensure that a piece of information gets to all of our school

newsletters.

areas of Number, Measurement and Geometry, and
Statistics and Probability.

Prep News
We would like to invite our
Grandparents to attend our
“Grandparents and Special
Friends” morning, this Friday
th
13 March 2015.
Bounce Back!
Students complete regular Bounce Back! lessons to
promote wellbeing. These lessons cover areas including
core values, emotions, bouncing back and friendship.
Each classroom also has a weekly class meeting.
We are very conscious of the
fact that many students will not have grandparents close
by, and hope that a special friend is able to attend instead.
A special friend could be a babysitter, neighbour or family
friend.
Drug Education
We will complete 10 Drug Education lessons throughout
the year. These lessons will cover medicines and first aid
and are compulsory in government schools.
Grandparents and special friends are welcome to go to
their child’s classroom at 9:00am for activities and fun.
The morning will conclude at 10:30am.
Due to the size of the room, and potential of overwhelming
our students, extra family members (mums, dads,
toddlers) are asked not to go into the classroom. Thank
you for your support with this.
We look forward to meeting you on this day.
Regards, The Prep Team

Thank you to all the parents that supported and organised
the students. Your assistance and support ensured the
students had an enjoyable day.

Hi, my name is Bailey. I am 12 years old. In October 2014,
I had a bet with my cousin Kelly (who was diagnosed in
July 2013 with a brain tumour) that I wouldn't have my hair
cut or trimmed until March 2015 and she would give me
$100.00. Of course I said yes, who doesn't want $100.00!
Within minutes, this was up to $500.00. Sadly Kelly lost
her battle with brain cancer in November 2014, so I have
decided to donate the money to Cure Brain Cancer.
