uniform. Shorts and summer dresses are not suitable
during winter.

A reminder that Monday 8 June is a public holiday. There
will be no school on this day.
Student Reports
Semester 1 student reports will be distributed on
Friday19th June, and will be followed up with Student Led
Conferences on Tuesday 23rd June.
Team China
Our 4 students and 2 teachers continue to have a
wonderful time in China. The group is now in Suzhou and
were fortunate to visit Xinggang School on Tuesday. This is
the school that our Chinese students from last year, Nelly
and Mary attend. The group had a great day catching up
with the two girls and had the opportunity to experience
school life in a Chinese setting.
Student Led Conferences
Student Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday 23rd
June.
Students will only attend for their conference on this day.
Meeting times will be booked on line. Meeting times will
also be available after school on Monday 22nd June for
all classes.
th
The booking system will open on Friday 12 June. The
code for all bookings is 5SWQ5.
Students must wear school uniform for their conference.
The June Parent/Teacher and Student Led Conference
times will be booked online again this year. Meeting times

Student Late Arrivals/Early Departures
It is important that your child is at school all day, every day.
We ask that appointments etc. be scheduled outside of
school hours unless unavoidable so that your child does
not arrive after 8:45am, or leave before 3:15pm.
Just three simple steps and your interviews are
booked:
Enter your name, your email
address and the
If your child does arrive late at school they must report to
the office prior to going to their classroom. When they
report to the office they will be provided with a late pass to
give to their classroom teacher. This process ensures that
our attendance records are accurate. In addition, if for
some unavoidable reason you need to collect your child
early, we require that you or a person authorised by you
first visit the office to collect an early departure slip. When
you go to the classroom, please give the classroom teacher
the slip. Again, these processes are in place to maximise
our care for the children and we thank you in advance for
your cooperation in these matters.
name of your student(s).
On the next page click on the
teachers you want to meet
with.
Click on the down arrow next
to each teacher’s name to
select the time you would like
to meet with them.
Students Arriving Too Early
I am concerned with the number of students arriving prior to
8:35am every morning, some as early as 8:00am. Yard
duty does not commence until 8:35am. Children are then
supervised. The only exceptions to this are Breakfast Club
and Morning Club. Breakfast Club is supervised from
8:10am. Morning Club occurs every week on Wednesdays
and Thursdays at 8:00am in the stadium.
Prep 2016 - Enrolment
All parents who are intending to enrol their child in Prep at
Kennington for next year, 2016, should collect an
Information Pack from the school office. The pack
includes information pertinent to KPS including the Great
Start Transition Program and includes the official school
enrolment form. The enrolment form and a copy of the
child’s birth certificate and immunisation record must be
th
returned to school by Friday 26 June, 2015.

Cross country
Congratulations to Ned B (6A), Matt B (6A), Jade D (6A),
Darnell H-A (5B), Cain D (5A) and Luke S (5A) who
represented the school at the Regional Cross County.
SchoolMate gives you a general overview of the Victorian
curriculum in each subject at each year level and:
 Provides you with an overview of what your
children are learning in each subject at each year
level according to the Victorian curriculum
(AusVELS)

Provides you with tips regarding activities and
things you can do at home to help your children in
each subject and year level

Suggests apps, books, events and activities related
to each subject area and year level.

Luke, Ned, Matt, Jade and Darnell have now qualified for
th
the State Cross Country in Melbourne on Thursday 16
July. A fantastic effort. Well done and good luck.
Our school, like all other government schools in Victoria,
uses AusVELS as the basis for the learning programs we
run at school every day.
Our teachers adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of our
students and community, for example, designing learning
programs around what your children are interested in, or
around days or celebrations that are important to our
community.
SchoolMate is designed to give you an overview of what
children are expected to learn in Victorian Government
Schools across every subject from Prep to Year 10.

Strathfieldsaye Junior Girls
Football
Last week the Bendigo Advertiser wrote a
fantastic article on our new Under 12
Junior Girls competition that has
just commenced
this
year.
The
Strathfieldsaye Junior Football Club has
proudly introduced a team into this
inaugural competition and we still have a
few places available for any interested
girls.
Neale Daniher is the face of the 'Big Freeze at the G'
campaign, which aims to raise money to find a cure for
Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
http://www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au/story/3103602/girlsget-a-kick-out-of-football/?cs=3346#slide=9
Daniher, who played 82 games with Essendon before
coaching Melbourne for 10 years, was diagnosed with MND
two years ago.
If any girls between the ages of 9 and 12 would like to
come and see what Junior Girls’ football is all about and the
pathway it can lead to, we would welcome them to attend.
The fundraising effort will culminate at the Round 10 clash
between Collingwood and Melbourne on Queen’s Birthday
when some of Australia’s biggest football personalities will
do a toboggan run into a giant pool containing two tonnes
of ice.
Training session
When: Wednesday night
4:30pm
Where: Strathfieldsaye Football Oval
Tim Watson was the first celebrity nominated by Daniher,
and since then Garry Lyon, Brian Taylor and Luke Darcy
are among those to be nominated.
Games are played
When: Friday night
5:30pm
Where: Dower Park
Kangaroo Flat
On the Queen’s Birthday, Melbourne will have the AHG
Walk to the G, with Daniher leading the walk from
Federation Square at 12.30pm. Collingwood will have a
separate walk from the Westpac Centre.
