We invite you come and hear Come and hear God’s Word made clear That you and I are born in sin Heaven, we cannot enter in But Jesus Christ God’s only Son Has made a way for everyone If we will only turn from sin And ask the Lord to dwell within HOLY SPIRIT WHO ARE YOU? John 14:16 & 17…”And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever; Even the Spirit of Truth.” Holy Spirit may I ask you some questions?, who are you? Holy Spirit what do you want? Holy Spirit, I’m afraid of you; Holy Spirit when will you take over? These are fundamental questions that every believer should know the answers to, have an experience of and demonstrate the reality in daily living. So to answer the first question – Holy Spirit, Who are you? He responds: – I am the third person of the Holy Trinity – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. I was there in creation moving and bringing all things into existence. “And God said… and the Spirit moved and there was”. I was the one who brought you into an awareness of your need of a Saviour, it was I who opened the word of God to your soul and it was I who gave you your new life. I was involved in your redemption, I was there recreating you and bringing you into a new born again relationship with God the Father through Jesus the Son. I now live in you and will be with you forever. Holy Spirit – What is it that you want? Ephesians 5:18, “Be not drunk with wine, but be filled with the Spirit” The Holy Spirit is saying, I want to fill your life, I want you to put you on fire for God. I want you to keep on burning so that you never burn out because the Holy Spirit makes me part of the body of Jesus. But, Holy Spirit – I am afraid of you! Luke 12:11 & 12; “And when they bring you into the synagogues and unto the magistrates and powers, take no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say; For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.” We are afraid of a complete surrender, we suspect it might be like becoming a prisoner and yet only people filled by the Spirit know their real identity – what will become of a life that does not want to be filled with the Spirit? Holy Spirit – When will you take over? Luke 11:13; Jesus said, “If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven, give good gifts to them that ASK HIM” Col 3:16 “ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” The Holy Spirit will take over when my rebellious self and I call out in unison and beg the Holy Spirit to wholeheartedly fill every facet of my life and every facet of my body, only then will He fill me. To be filled with the Spirit, means to be filled by His Word. The Word is the breath of the Holy Spirit – it fills me and it changes me. When the heart is empty of the Word, the Holy Spirit cannot take over. The Word is Christ. The Spirit shares a heart with the Word of God and nothing else. Let Him take over. Thy Holy Spirit Lord alone, can turn our hearts from sin, His power alone can sanctify and keep us pure within. O Spirit of Truth and Grace, come in our midst we pray and purify each waiting heart, baptise us with power today. Bob Barbour Baptist Youth - Transition 2015 It is the end of exam season, and that means that there are thousands of young people in for a long couple of months as they wait for their exam results. There are many hopes, dreams and aspirations which hang in the balance and are dependent on a few letters on a page come mid-August. But what happens if you get your grades, are accepted onto your course and head off to third level education in September? At Baptist Youth we try to answer that question with an event called ‘Transition’. The aim of ‘Transition’ is to prepare our young people for the challenges that lie ahead of them on the university or college campus. We hope that, in addition to parental support and the love of their church, ‘Transition’ will go some way to helping students live for Jesus on university and college campuses. This year Pastor Richard Blayney (Coleraine) will be opening God’s Word for us. We will also have a couple of current students share their experience and advice in making the most of Christian fellowship through Christian Union and making the most of evangelism on campus through Student Union groups/locations. Crèche facilities for children up to and including primary three are available morning & evening. We thank the following people for being in charge of this work EVENING MORNING DATE 05/07/2015 Barbara, Deborah, Stephanie 12/07/2015 Belinda, Elizabeth 19/07/2015 Betty S Emily Lorna McC For Your Prayers & Support Heather Sun 5th - Fri 10th July : NWU senior camp, Bushmills Sat 11th - Fri 17th July : NEU camp, Kilkeel Sat 18th - Fri 24th July : NWU CYIA week, Londonderry Sat 25th - Fri 31st July : NEU CYIA week, Ballymoney Sat 8th - Sat 15th August : Team to Sweden Sun 16th - Sat 22nd August : CYIA week, Limerick Davy Ellison, Interim Baptist Youth Coordinator 'working together…transforming a generation' Jennifer Sun 5th July – Fri 10th July Senior Camp, Bushmills.
