Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply. $125 per year will be paid for eligible primary school students to go towards paying for camps, excursions and sporting activities. Payments will go directly to the school and be tied to the student. It is expected that more than 222,000 Victorian school students will directly benefit from the Fund. Applications to the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund are now open and you will find the application form attached. This form must be submitted by the end of this term, Friday 26th June. There are still places in the 5/6 Camp program and this money may be used to go towards the cost of the camp for eligible families. I'm extremely excited and honoured to become Vice Captain of Mackellar Primary School. A few of my favourite hobbies are drawing realistic sketches and reading, I also like to write stories in my free time. I hope anyone who needs help or would like to tell me or any of the student leadership team something they'd like to change about the school, will come and tell me or one of the other captains. Hi, my name is Riona Azzopardi and I am from grade 5/6K. I am one of Mackellar Primary Schools Vice Captains for 2015 and I am still very overwhelmed that I have this extremely important role. I have been at Mackellar since Prep and I am now a year six student who is extraordinarily proud of her school or as I like to call it my second home. I would just like to add that I wish all my fellow peers who are part of the student leadership team the very best of luck for the rest of the year. Mackellar Primary School Newsletter Parent Newsletter Grades 5/6 YMCA Camp, Anglesea. Wednesday July 22 to Friday July 24 This year’s camp will cost $240 for the 3-day experience. The cost includes accommodation, activities, camp instructors and bus travel. As prices in petrol, food and wages have risen, so have the cost of camps and buses. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is payable by Friday May 8, 2015 to secure your child a place on the camp as there are limited places available. (Once places are filled a waiting list will be established.) A payment plan will commence there after so that the financial demands will not be too taxing for families. Final payment is due no later than Monday June 22 The Grade 3/4 CITY CAMP Melbourne Discovery Wednesday August 26 to Friday August 28 Our Grade 3/4 students have an opportunity to attend a 3 day camp in the city of Melbourne in Term 3. This year’s camp will cost $290.00 for the 3 day experience. Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund (CSEF) CSEF will be provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. The allowance will be paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions, or sporting activities for the benefit of your child. The annual CSEF amount per student will be: $125 for primary & $225 for secondary students. How to Apply Contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or download from www.education.vic.gov.au/csef Closing Date You should lodge a CSEF application form at the school by 26 June 2015. For more information about the CSEF visit www.education.vic.gov.au/csef Prep Healthy Breakfast Final payment is due no later than Friday August 7 Dear Parents / Guardians, The 3/4 Camp is NOW FULL For all 3/4 students attending the camp, please return your Medical Form to your classroom teacher by the end of this week. This term, the prep students have been learning about Healthy Eating and Food Choices as part of their Inquiry Investigation into ‘Wellbeing’. As part of this unit, we will be having a healthy Prep breakfast at school on Friday 5th June. The Mackellar Concert Band is up and running for 2015! Mackellar’s instrumental music students have been establishing their skills as individuals through music lessons and practice since the second week of Term 1. Now they have come together as a band! Listen for them in the hallway outside the Performing Arts room every Wednesday, just before the bell. The children will eat breakfast in their classrooms and then change into their school uniforms. The cost of the breakfast will be $5.00. Please return the form below with the money in an envelope no later than Friday 29th May. Students can attend 1 night or 2 nights per week. Students eligible are those students who are 8 years of age or older. Additional notes are available from outside the main office in the information holders and from the P.E office. All sports are free of charge and each student is provided with an afternoon tea at 3.30pm. Between 3.45pm – 4.45pm the students participate in sport. Parents are required to collect the students promptly at 4.45pm. Students remaining after 4.45 will be placed in after school care and charged a fee.
