Request for Expression of Interest: Content Researchers 1. Introduction The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) is issuing this Request for Expression of Interest for Researchers interested in the development of content for the revision of the AMA’s publication, Help! A Survivor’s Guide to Emergency Preparedness. Help! A Survivor’s Guide to Emergency Preparedness is a valuable resource for museums at all stages of organizational life. It provides institutions with the knowledge and tools necessary to be prepared for an emergency. This publication is distributed worldwide and is considered a key resource in museum disaster management. The new edition will update the current standards of practice and provide a framework to implement these standards. The AMA expects to issue four research contracts; one for each of the following areas of disaster preparedness and response: 1. Prevention and Preparedness 2. Response 3. Recovery 4. Case Studies 2. Eligible Candidates Eligible candidates will have a university degree and substantive research experience, extensive knowledge and understanding of the current state of emergency preparedness and response in museums, as well as knowledge of the recovery of heritage collections following a disaster. Candidates must also be able to adhere to a firm timeline. 3. Deliverables i. A thorough literature review; ii. Gap analysis of Help! A Survivor’s Guide to Emergency Preparedness and related existing material; iii. Detailed research results for the identified specific area of practice. Candidates will submit these deliverables as recommended revisions to current content and / or new content grounded in the research completed, including citations using the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition. Contracts will begin May 1, 2015 and will be completed by August 31, 2015, with interim deliverables required. Detailed instructions will be provided to the successful candidates. Researchers will receive $5,000 remuneration for service. 4. Submission Requirements Expressions of Interest should include a curriculum vitae, summary of qualifications and interest in the project, the area(s) of research the candidate is interested in pursuing, and three references.
