I would like to thank all of the good people that supported Sunday Seahawk football. What a great journey. I would be remiss if I didn't say thank you to all the volunteers that made the post HAWKS!!!! Worthy President season a huge success. Everyone who came out and showed their support made it an outstanding and fun season. GO SEA- I hope to see you all up at the club for one of our fine meals, breakfast, lunch or dinner you can not beat it any where. Remember do what you do best and stay beautiful!!!! Worthy President, John Kyes Note From: Chuck Wood, Junior Past Worthy President After our last Aerie Meeting, was asked if I would consider staying on as Junior Past Worthy President for the coming year. I had planned to take a year off from being an officer. Knowing that I attend the Aerie meetings, I thought, “Well, why not?” I have been an officer in our Aerie since 2005, with the exception of one year. Now, I know you’re going to ask, “Why would you want to do this?” For one thing, to keep this club open, we need officers to fill the positions. I Continued on page 3 Page 2 North Mason Eagles Aerie #4226 March/April 2015 Newsletter Madam President—Diane Kyes Things are looking good around the club. The wall with the Past Presidents pictures is coming along and thank you to our Aerie Brothers for making it look so wonderful. We have also seen some new stools in the bar area thanks to the generous donation of a member and some assistance from the Aerie Trustees to help pay for them. We are still hoping for a spring cleaning which will take a lot of member volunteers. Be on the lookout for flyers with more information to come. We have a lot of activities during the next couple of months. The Aerie Sisters are putting out good food every week, their cooking is amazing. To all you ladies that cook in our kitchen, thank you for all your efforts and great flavors you create. You do a wonderful job, keep up the good work. Thank you to all of you who help make the bar tenders job a little Madam easiPresident er by Diane Kyes having your Eagle’s Card out and showing before you have to be asked. It is so greatly appreciated. Everyone for the most part has been really great in providing their card. Again thank you so much. Hope you all enjoyed Valentine’s Day along with the three day weekend. That seemed to work out well for all of us who have working sweethearts. With February being such a short month it makes the year feel like it is zipping by. The club doesn’t have a lot going on in March, however, in April we will be having a Spring Auction. Please be watching for more information as time draws near April 11th. Thank you to everyone for all that you do, volunteering is sometimes a thankless job. Every once in a while you do find that person or group of people that really appreciate what you do. Please don’t let one bad experience keep you from helping others. The club really needs you and your support. If every member would volunteer an hour or two each month, we would really have something to be proud of. Again, thank you to those of you who continue to give of yourselves even though we know you are wearing thin. You are very special people. Very Sincerely, Madam President, Diane Kyes Spicy Chicken Wings Ingredients: Directions: 2lb. chicken wings, split at joints, tips removed 2tsp. garlic powder 3/4 cup Hot 'n Spicy Wing Barbecue Sauce 1 green onion, sliced Heat grill to medium-high heat. In 2010, he was honored as He continues to work with Local Aeries and the State Aerie in various capacities and enjoys cruising with his Eagles brothers and sisters. Continued from page 1, Chuck Wood would hate someday to drive from my home in Gig Harbor only to find the doors padlocked, just because we couldn’t find someone to step up to be an officer of our organization. The position we have open now is for the Worthy Conductor. We know you might be new at this, but we would be glad to show you the ropes and go through what you would have to do at a meeting. If you are interested in being the Worthy Conductor, please stop by on meeting night and talk to me about the position. Sincerely, Chuck Wood, Past Worthy President Chuck Wood Junior Past Worthy President North Mason Eagles Aerie #4226 March/April 2015 Newsletter Page 4 Greeting Brothers and Sisters, Well, spring is just around the corner and that means another Eagle year is coming up. One of the things we need to start looking at is Officers in the Aerie and Auxiliary for the 2015-2016 year. To remain operating and strong we need to fill all positions. For the Aerie, we still need to fill the offices of Worthy Conductor, Treasurer and Secretary. These are very important positions. The Conductor sets up the meeting room, assists the Secretary, Trustees and Worthy President during the meeting by moving reports, funds, guests and candidates across the Aerie room. The Secretary and treasurer keep meeting minutes, collect funds, make bank deposits, keep books, write checks and membership cards, track membership and collects signatures for checks and business documentation. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact Jim Haygood or Dani Ne’Fay. For the Auxiliary, contact Debbie Louden or Laura Vliet. Also with the coming of spring we start thinking about Eagle Valley. You may ask what is Eagle Valley. The answer is it is a camping and recreation area for Eagle members that is owned by all of the Aerie and Auxiliary members of Washington State. It’s located just outside of Cle Elum, Wa. It is open from May 1st till the last Sunday in September. There are campsites for RVs with power and water and tent sites. There are horse shoe pits, game areas for badminton or volleyball and a miniature golf course (18 holes). They are even completing a baseball Saturday—Chicken Fried Steak Dinner On Saturday March 14th we are serving a Chicken Fried Steak Dinner to benefit the North Mason High School Scholarship Fund. We will provide $1000.00 scholarships to selected seniors in June. Your assistance and participation is requested to increase the number of students we can support. Dinner will include mashed potatoes, gravy vegetables, and apple cake dessert. diamond. They are close to restaurants, stores and 3 Eagles Aeries (Rosalyn, Cle Elum and Ellensburg). Funding for Eagle Valley comes from fund raisers (thanks to our state chair people Skip & Patti Columbetti), camping fees and the Annual Auction on Memorial Day. We also volunteer to help clean up and prepare for opening by a work party on the last week end of April (24th, 25th & 26th this year). This also lets us reserve an area for North Mason on Memorial Day week end. So help support your club and remember Eagles are, “People Helping People”.
