The weather was also spectacular. Thanks to all of the students and staff who helped to make this a great event for our school. A message from our music teacher, Mrs. Carroll: This year we are looking to utilize the stage for our Band and Chorus Spring performance. Since it will be on the stage and in the cafeteria, seating space for the Band and Chorus Concert on June 16 is limited. Because of this, we need to know in advance how many people will be coming to this concert. If you plan on attending the concert please fill out this form (fill it out in Google Forms) and we will send home FREE tickets with your child. Please note that if we have more requests than there are seats in the cafeteria/stage area, we will change the location to the gym so that everyone who wants to attend may still attend. Please respond by Tuesday June 9th. Thank you very much. Thank you to the Nottingham P.T.A. for funding a visit from"Lindsay & Her Puppet Pals" for kindergarten students this week. Lindsay entertained us for two fun filled performances. Lindsay makes her own puppets and uses them to tell great stories that center around the themes of friendship, anti-bullying, teamwork, and dreaming big. The students truly enjoyed themselves! Come support this effort by getting your CAR WASHED THIS SUNDAY at the NORTHWOOD GARAGE on Route 4!! Be there, JUNE 7th, between 10am-2pm! Thanks! The 7th Graders and Staff spent a day last week at the Pinnacle Leadership Retreat participating in a High Ropes Course and Teambuilding exercises. We had a fantastic day with our amazing 7th graders! The kids took risks, supported each other, gained confidence, and worked together as a team to support one another. We were all impressed with their maturity and willingness to give it their all and really enjoyed the day with them. Here are some pictures: Second graders studied the life cycle of chickens during the month of May. Incubators were set up in each of the three classrooms. The students turned the eggs twice each day. They learned about the development of the chick embryos during the 21 day incubation. After the chicks hatched, they were put in brooder boxes so the children could observe them for ten days. The students were very excited about the successful hatch and learned so much about the life cycle! All the chicks were placed with second grade Nottingham families and are doing well! Kevin Wall from NH Audubon-McLane Center, Concord, NH visited the second grade at Nottingham School and talked about Avian Adventures. He shared a live Red-Tail Hawk with the group on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. The students were also able to have hands-on time. Everyone enjoyed learning about different birds and learning more about what Audubon is all about! Community News Cruise Night at Liar's Paradise! Nottingham Community Child Care invites you to join us on June 25 6:30-8:30PM for Power Struggles - Understanding this Potent Dynamic, presented by Scott Noyes Power struggles come from a variety of components; fatigue, stress, frustration, helplessness or the quest for autonomy and power. The presentation looks at avoiding responses that provide short term relief, but long term grief. We will explore why effective reactions to children's power struggles come from understanding not simply the behavior but also its function, mainly the child's needs and feelings. Surprisingly, the answer to power struggles is not avoiding them, but rather to take out the defiance and learn from them. Our goal will be helping children advocate for themselves by having conversations which increase their autonomy and balance new privileges with new responsibilities. $10 per person, RSVP by emailing nottinghamcommunitychildcare@gmail.com Did you know that Nottingham Community Child Care offers a summer session of care that runs from June 22nd through August 26th?
