Redeemer Presbyterian exists to glorify God as a Gospel presence in downtown Charleston by being a grace-filled community that worships Christ and develops disciples who serve Him in our families, neighborhoods, and the nations. Order of Worship March 29, 2015 CALL TO WORSHIP from Luke 9:51; Matthew 21:8; Luke 19:37, 38; Matthew 21:9 LEADER: As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. As he went along, a very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen, saying: PEOPLE: (with a loud voice) “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” LEADER: And the multitudes that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, PEOPLE: (with a loud voice) “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!” SONGS OF PRAISE ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all. Let every kindred, every tribe, On this terrestrial ball, To Him all majesty ascribe, And crown Him Lord of all; To Him all majesty ascribe, And crown Him Lord of all. O that with yonder sacred throng, We at His feet may fall! We’ll join the everlasting song, And crown Him Lord of all; We’ll join the everlasting song, And crown Him Lord of all. 2 GLORY TO THE LORD OUR GOD Lift up your heads, O ye gates, let the King of Glory come in; Be lifted up, O ancient doors; let the King of Glory come in! (repeat) Glory to the Lord, our God; Glory to the Lamb on the throne; Open wide the gates of our hearts, with our lips we rise up and praise As we worship the Ancient of Days. [Return to verse] Who can ascend to the hill of the Lord, people of clean hearts and hands; You, who are righteous and seeking His face, Come and worship the Ancient of Days, Come and worship the Ancient of Days. (chorus) HALLELUJAH FOR THE CROSS Up to the hill of Calvary, my Savior went courageously And there he bled and died for me, Hallelujah for the cross And on that day the world was changed, a final perfect Lamb was slain, Let earth and heaven now proclaim: Hallelujah for the cross! Hallelujah for the war he fought, love has won, death has lost Hallelujah for the souls he bought, Hallelujah for the cross! What good I’ve done could never save, my debt too great for deeds to pay, But God my Savior made a way, Hallelujah for the cross, A slave to sin, my life was bound, but all my chains fell to the ground, When Jesus’ blood came flowing down, Hallelujah for the cross! (chorus) And when I breathe my final breath, I’ll have no need to fear that rest, This hope will guide me into death, Hallelujah for the cross! (chorus) 3 Wee Ones Children are a blessing to the Redeemer family! For all nursery-related questions, find our on-duty Church Mouse next door. MAP exists to mentor and disciple the next generation by training and shepherding future church leaders in the Greater London area— with an emphasis on those from South Asian cultures. Pray that God would help Leah to love the interns and the churches they are serving, though those two conflict at times. Pray for interest from locals in the internship and apprenticeship programs. Pray that God would provide more opportunities for Leah to be in relationship with nonbelievers and people on the fringes. Pray for safety as Leah and a group of interns return from South Asia this week. Send Leah an email of encouragement at ldemory82@gmail.com. Rev. Tried by sinful men, Torn and beaten, then Nailed to a cross of wood. This, the pow’r of the cross: Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath—We stand forgiven at the cross. Oh, to see the pain, Written on Your face, Bearing the awesome weight of sin. Ev’ry bitter thought, Ev’ry evil deed Crowning Your bloodstained brow. (chorus) Now the daylight flees; Now the ground beneath Quakes as its Maker bows His head. Curtain torn in two, Dead are raised to life; “Finished!” the vict’ry cry. (chorus) Oh, to see my name, Written in the wounds, For through Your suffering I am free. Death is crushed to death; Life is mine to live, Won through Your selfless love. This, the pow’r of the cross: Son of God—slain for us. What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.
