Gates open at 12:30 p.m. for two action-packed matches at 1:30pm and 3pm, where local and international polo players will compete in front of an estimated 3,500 spectators. As an added feature, this year’s Opening Day will also include Wounded Warrior Homes 3rd Annual Hot Rods for Heroes, a car show featuring over 100 vehicles, and Southern California’s Food Truck Competition and Beer Festival. Guests are invited to peruse the specialty cars, sample food from the competing food trucks and taste beers from San Diego’s finest craft breweries (21+). Join Riviera Magazine after the matches for the highly anticipated 7th Chukker After Party until 7pm. Polo is presented to the public every Sunday from May 31 to September 27 with the exception of July 26, August 2 and August 9. Each Sunday, the SD Polo Club features two competitive matches, intermission entertainment, and a divot stomp-- which is chance to stretch your legs and walk on to the polo field with a glass of champagne and stomp the divots that have been kicked up by the polo ponies. Each Sunday, the San Diego Polo Club partners with various groups, brands and charities, making each Sunday event unique. Join in the excitement of Opening Day as ponies and players take to the main field at the San Diego Polo Club located at 14555 El Camino Real on the border of Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. SDPC has multiple ticket options, ranging from VIP to picnicking with your family. The VIP tent ($55 per person – includes mimosas) is a center field grandstand that seats close to 300 guests and 500 on Opening Day. It's an elevated, shaded area with wait staff for both food and beverage service and bottomless mimosas are included in the ticket price. Garden Seating ($30) is a field-side reserved area with tables and umbrellas for shade. General admission ($15) is first-come, first-served with umbrella tables, cocktail tables and picnic tables. View the action from the east side of the field and reserve a tailgating spot on the sidelines ($100 for 4 guests), we encourage you to pack a picnic and enjoy the game from the tailgate of your car. Purchase a Wounded Warrior Tailgate Ticket for $30 and enjoy 5 beer samplings in the signature craft beer garden plus a souvenir cup. Proceeds from those tickets benefit Wounded Warrior Homes. All tickets include access to the car show. Parking is $10 per car. Wounded Warrior Homes is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing transitional homes to post 9/11 combat veterans returning from battle with post-traumatic stress or traumatic brain injury. Celebrating its third year as an organization, WWH has provided housing and transitional resources including education, transportation and mental health services to almost 20 veterans and helped hundreds more in the process. Attendees of Opening Day will not only have the excitement of the polo matches, but also be able to experience the delicious tastes of some of Southern California’s best food trucks as they compete for the title of “Southern California’s Best Food Truck,” while perusing the 100+ hot rods on display, all in support of WWH’s mission to serve those who protect our freedom. The San Diego Polo Club has two full bars (21+) serving craft cocktails on draft, an assortment of spirits, local craft beer, hand selected wines, champagne, and non-alcoholic beverages. The Sunday Polo Kitchen is presented by The Wild Thyme Company, offering plates to share or more traditional sandwiches, salads and daily specials.
