Kevin’s Comments
“ Forward in Faith”
I am extremely excited and grateful to be a part of what our precious Lord is
doing at the Sardinia church of Christ. I am thankful for how God has blessed this
ministry in the past and the present and what He will do in the future. It is my desire
that all of our members will sense the leadership of God’s Spirit as we move forward
in the coming days. You are the key to the success of this ministry and your
obedience to the Lord is crucial.
On April 19th you will have the opportunity for fellowship at the “All Church
Dinner” which is being hosted at the church at 11:30 a.m. following our morning
worship service. You will have the chance to gain information about the “FORWARD
IN FAITH” campaign. At the dinner we will try to answer any questions about the
finances of the church and why we need your commitment to this campaign to help
make the payments on our facilities. On Sunday, April 26th, we will have a “Victory
Sunday” where we will make a faith promise for the next three years over and above
our regular giving. Our “Celebrating 100 Years Capital Stewardship Campaign” ends
in April and the new campaign begins on May 1st. The amount raised in
“FORWARD IN FAITH” will be used to pay down the debt of the mortgage on our
facilities.
Most of all we are asking you to make “FORWARD IN FAITH” a special matter
of daily personal prayer. The purpose of these dinners and this whole campaign is to
offer ministry and prayer to you and your family. We hope to explain our needs and
to request prayer for God’s will in your life and the life of the church.
My hope is that every family in our church will help us to literally immerse this
campaign in daily persistent and specific prayer about God’s will in your life and our
“FORWARD IN FAITH” campaign. Please do not just ask God what He would like
you to do. Ask Him what He can do through you. There is a
difference. God is not asking for equal gifts but for equal sacrifice.
Thank you for being the loving people that you are!
Your Minister,
Kevin Hamilton

When I was a kid one of the movies I watched over and over again was Prince of
Egypt. This was on a VHS tape so I had to have the patience to rewind it and then fast
forward through all the commercials to get to the movie. I have done this many many times
with this movie and if you remember VHS tapes then you know that only someone who
really likes a movie would do this repeatedly. I have also done this with a specific Disney
movie (I WAS A KID!!!) which I equally enjoyed but I’m going to plead the Fifth on that one.
For those of you who have not seen Prince of Egypt, it is an animated movie by Universal
Studios about the life of Moses from birth up to the exodus from Egypt.
Some of my favorite scenes in the movie are Moses being challenged by Pharaohs’
sorcerers, the plagues on Egypt, and the parting of the Red Sea. Even though this is an
animated movie, these scenes really emphasize the awful and awe-full absolute
unequivocal dominant power of God leaving me in a mixed state of fright and reverence.
However, my absolute favorite scene is the one where Moses encounters God through the
burning bush. We all know this scene relatively well from reading our Bible’s or Sunday
school stories. Moses tries to get himself excused from the God’s job offer by giving
several reasons but God already has a solution for each excuse. Finally Moses says
(exasperatedly in the movie) “What am I even supposed to say to these people?” and “I
can’t even talk well!” In response and almost as exasperated as Moses with his excuses
God responds with a trump statement: “Who made man’s mouth? Who makes them deaf
or mute, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you and will teach you
what to say.”
These words from Exodus 4:11 have stuck with me since childhood because of this
movie and this specific scene. Admittedly in this particular scene God is not the most
comforting to one’s mind and heart as are other remembered Bible passages. Also, unlike
other popularly remembered Bible passages, this is more of a rhetorical question than a
comforting statement like the one found in Jeremiah 29:11. The fact that this is a rhetorical
question is the reason I remember the passage. It always causes me to respond, “…you
are…”; much like a child being reminded by a parent. It is also a reminder that God knows
precisely (absolutely, totally, and exactly) who I am and how I am. Strengths and
weaknesses, perceived or actual, or even mediocre qualities that draw no attention are all
known by God. So when He calls us to a task, all of these things have already been
considered. Often we align ourselves with tasks that are to our strengths or even to our
weaknesses when working for God. However, God does not align us with a task because
of our “strengths” or “weaknesses”. He aligns the task for the person He created.
“You’re not dying, you just can’t think of anything good to do”.

The Alpha Class
The Alpha Class met on Monday, March 16th, at 6 p.m. for a meal of pizza after which we watched the movie God Is Not Dead. Our evening together was very enjoyable. Those of you who were not able to join us for this evening of fellowship were very much missed. Our next meeting is planned for Monday April 20th at 6 p.m. at the Church. If you do not attend Sunday School we invite you to join us at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays in the Alpha Classroom.
The Friendly Circle News
The Friendly Circle did not hold a meeting in March 17, 2015 due to the weather conditions. The next meeting will be April 7, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the church. Hostess will be Hazel Downing; Devotions: Carolyn Carr; Special: Carla Carr; and Social: Anna Jones. We invite all ladies to come out and join in with the plans that we will be making for the April 16th Women’s Christian Fellowship meeting at Sardinia Church. We hope many of you will come out and help with this and help make the ladies from the visiting churches feel welcome on April 16th. This is always a very interesting evening with a large group of Christian Women fellowshipping together. Don’t miss it! April Events

Thank You
Dear friends and neighbors here at the church and
for those both from far and near,
My family and Darold’s family would like to thank
everyone for your love, concern, and special
prayers for Darold, me, and our families, before,
during, and after Darold’s illness and the kindness
and comfort given at the time of his passing. He is
so very missed by all!
We want to thank Kevin for his beautiful and
meaningful words of comfort, all the pallbearers, all
who sent flowers and donations in Darold’s memory,
the American Legion and Honor Guard for their
services, and the Beam-Funeral Home for letting
Darold ride for the last time in his “twrucky”, as he
called it; he would have loved that had he known.
Darold was very proud to serve his country in Korea
and talked about it a lot. A special “Thank You” for
the beautiful throw brought by Kevin from Kenny
and Karen Inlow to the Atlantes Rehab Center while
Darold and I were there. Darold loved it!
Darold was a wonderful friend, neighbor, and most
of all, a great husband of over 47 years. His
dreams in life were to own a dairy bar and to get
married. His dreams were accomplished and he
was great at both!
We thank God for all who shared their love, prayers,
and all kindnesses which will live in our hearts
always.
Love and Prayers,
Mrs. Darold Fender and families
