About Stephen About Chris Stephen Attwell started his career with British Telecom as an apprentice, attended university returning to a managerial post in Brighton. He moved to Suffolk in 1979 with his family to work at Martlesham and pursue his career with British Telecom. Stephen then opted for a new challenge and moved into the local legal sector and now works on IT and accounts at his son’s local law firm. He also decided that he wanted to give something back to the community and became involved and proactive in some of the activities in the area. Chris has lived in Martlesham since he was married in 1970. Originally from the North West of the country where he was educated and trained in Engineering. Stephen believes his experience from working in both large and small businesses can usefully contribute to the policy and decision making in our local councils. On taking early retirement he was then invited to become an active member in the Martlesham Community as a representative. Since then Chris has served Martlesham as both a Parish and District Councillor. He came to Ipswich in the mid 1960's when he was invited to lecture at the then Ipswich Civic College. During his time there he lectured to many students across a broad range of engineering subjects and also worked on the introduction of the first Engineering Degree at the renamed Suffolk College and lectured on that course before he retired in 2000.
