Intended Audience
and Course Description
Cottage Health System’s Oncology Nursing
Symposium is designed to meet the educational
needs of nurses and other healthcare professionals interested in expanding their knowledge
in the field of oncology. This rich educational
program includes updates on cancer prevention,
breast cancer, the relationship between human
papillomavirus (HPV) and head and neck cancer,
and insights into caregiver compassion fatigue.
Educational Objectives
After attending this symposium, participants
should be able to:
• Describe the role that lifestyle plays in cancer
prevention.
• Outline strategies to prevent compassion
fatigue.
• Discuss the controversial issues related to the
history and use of the HeLa cells for cancer
research.
• Explain the role of personalized plans in the
treatment of breast cancer.
• Describe the relationship between HPV and
head and neck cancer.
• Identify the physiological and psychological
benefits of humor and hope.
Accreditation
Provider approved for 7 contact hours by the
California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider
#00252. Course meets the qualifications for 7
hours of continuing education credit for MFTs
and/or LCSWs as required by the California
Board of Behavioral Sciences. Provider #PCE 741.
