31 from 9:00-4:00 and Saturday, November 1
from 9:00-2:00. Be sure to visit Granny’s
Cupboard for baked/canned goods and candies, Flea Market Corner for an assortment of
treasurers, Winter Wonderland & Happy Fall
Ya’ll for holiday crafts and home décor, and

On Friday, the UMW will provide a soup lunch. The United Methodist

will be accepted.
If you would like to donate items for the bazaar, please bring them to
the church on Thursday. The ladies always appreciate handmade crafts
and seasonal items. Baked goods, jellies and jams are also very popular.
A silent auction will be held which has always done well. If you would
like to donate an item for the silent auction, contact June Hobbs.
Please help spread the word about the bazaar. Tell your friends and
neighbors to come early for the best selection. Proceeds from the Bazaar are used for missions locally and around the world.
UMW Italian Lunch
The United Methodist Women will provide an Italian lunch
during the regular fellowship dinner on Sunday, October 19,
immediately following the 2nd worship service. They will
be taking donations for Care-to-Learn at this lunch. Please
plan to stay and enjoy a meal of Italian favorites prepared by
the ladies.

Pastor’s Corner
How many of us tend to forget things. It seems like the older we get and
the busier we get, the more forgetful we get. We often try to blame others for this forgetfulness. We hear people say, “I’m just like my mother, or
my father,” whichever the case may be. But in the scheme of things does it
really matter most of the time?
Even if we can’t remember where we put our car keys or our purses, God
can help us remember what’s most important – things like who He is, what
He has done for us, and how much He loves us. We all want to experience the peace that only God can give. To receive this type of peace, we
need to remember two events from Scripture.
Remember to
keep all those
on our weekly
prayer list, the
church, and the
staff in your daily prayers!
The first event from Scripture to remember is the Exodus. God has
brought each of us out of our own little Egypt’s. He freed us all from the
slave of sin and death. The way He did this was by suffering, dying, and being raised from the dead. That is the second event to remember. We
need to remember Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. Jesus showed
us who God is and who we are through God. He showed us that God
loved us beyond anything we can imagine.
If we want to continually find God’s peace, we need to keep nurturing
those memories of the stories. When we do this they assure us of the
hope we have through Christ. We are no longer in slavery but are free
from bondage. Even if you forget everything else, remember these two
things.
Remember in Luke 22:19: “He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it.
Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, ‘This is my body,
which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
I pray that the Holy Spirit will help you remember everything that was told
to us, because God promised that he would. May God’s Spirit help us remember the truth and live by it always.
Love,
Pastor Charlene

1/2 Pint Milk Drive
Each Sunday in September the kids were asked
to bring change to “Feed
the Fish” and/or drop in
the milk can during the
offering time. Proceeds
were to go to the 1/2
pint milk program at
Ozark Schools which
provides snack milk for
children that cannot afford it. We are thrilled
to announce that we
have raised $1022.18 for
this worthy cause.
Thanks to all the kids
and adults that donated!
CHARGE
CONFERENCE
The 2014 Charge Conference will be held Sunday,
October 26, at Lifesong
United Methodist Church.
Lifesong is located at 360
Emerson Rd in Reeds
Spring Mo. The conference starts at 3:00. All
church members are invited to attend. The conference reviews and evaluates
the mission and ministry of
the church, sets the salary
for the pastor and staff and
elects members of the
council as recommended
by the local church’s nominating and pastor/parish
relations committees.
Have you ever tried to eat jello with a toothpick or a baked potato with no
utensils? Have you ever had meat loaf, a napkin and a knife as one of your meal
courses? These were some of the combinations at the C-Salt ‘wacky lunch’
on Thursday, Sept. 18. Twenty-seven were in attendance and each person
was giving a menu with numbered items 1-12. They had just one minute to
choose 3 different items for each of the 4 courses. Their choices were items
such as a hay rake, a skinny log, lazy cow, nervous Nellie, in the pipes, etc.
Each course was prepared according to their choices and served to them.
There was a lot of laughter, a few groans, and some dirty looks as their plates
were put before them. Their places were completely cleared after each course
so if they were lucky enough to get a fork for one course, they could not have it
again. Ask Kathleen and Carol how they enjoyed their napkin, fork and knife
during course number three. That’s all they ordered. The afternoon was full of
laughter but we are not sure how full the stomachs were. Imaginations were
put to the test and some plates were licked clean, literally.
C-SALT friends (age 55+) next meeting will be
Thursday, October 16,
at the church at noon. We will share an A-B-C Luncheon, which means you
are to bring a dish of food that begins with the same letter as
your LAST NAME. What a variety of foods we should have for lunch!!! Table
service and drinks will be provided; therefore, all you need to bring is your dish of food
to share. After our lunch, we will enjoy a presentation from Dr. Dick Lynn of his most
recent mission trip. Also, our charity for the month will be Least of These, so please
bring non-perishable food that also begins with the same letter as your last
name.
Any questions? Please call Pat Lynn, Thelma Sweeney or JoAn Jewell.
New Members—on Sunday, Sept. 28, Cassidy welcomed 10 new members into the congregation. These new members are:
Tom & Amy Grubaugh, Gene & Ginger Ruble, Paul & Mary Bennett, Matt
Truijillo, David & Jean Noblett and Jim Banner.
We are thrilled to have these new members and look forward to getting to know
them better.

Thank You….
What a church family! There aren’t enough words to express
my appreciation for everything done for me during my hospitalization and rehab.
Your prayers, cards, visits, calls, food and flowers were appreciated. Thanks to Pastor Charlene for her visits and concern.
Cassidy made an unexpected ordeal much easier to bear!
Thank you,
Love,
Dee Carr
Cassidy Family,
Thank you for your calls and cards. We really appreciate your
thoughts of sympathy.
Glenn & Linda Pilger Family
Thank you for your recent generous donation of 76 pounds of
food. It is only through the generosity of people like you that we
are able to meet the growing need for food assistance. Just this
past month a record 821 families came to Least of These for
food….these families had a total of 2,310 family members.
Blessings,
Susan Kendrick, Director
Least of These
Thank you so much for all the dog and cat food, treats, toys
and your donation of $25.00. All of these make the lives of our
cats and dogs a little nicer while they wait for their forever
homes at C.A.R.E.
Thanks Again,

To Our Friends with Cassidy United Methodist Church,
Each gift that is shared with Ronald McDonald House is
appreciated and important in supporting our families while
they are guests, including your baby diapers, wipes, bibs
and Onesies. Our new mothers are grateful to receive
these, giving them one less thing to worry about. We are
thrilled to know that the children of your church are receiving such a valuable lesson in giving to those less fortunate.

November Sermon Series
The FORGIVEN Quartet will be bringing the message in song during the 2nd
service on Sunday, October 12. A
quote from their website says:
“Presenting only the best in Southern Gospel music, FORGIVEN Quartet has been
spreading the good news of Jesus Christ all
across middle America since July 1981.
Our hope remains that you will gain a
clearer picture of the Lord in your mind
and a stronger love for the Lord in your
heart after you have experienced the ministry of FORGIVEN Quartet.”
Please invite your friends and relatives
to this special service of music and entertainment. A love offering will be
taken during the service.
During the month of November,
Pastor Charlene will do a sermon
series entitled ‘shiny gods: How
Much is Enough’ based on the book
shiny gods by Mike Slaughter. This
sermon series will help individuals
reassess priorities to create a
culture and lifestyle of giving, based
on the word of God and the
example of Christ. Sermon titles include, Naming
Our Idols,; Money, Work, and Debt; Be Faithful,
Save; and Heart Giving. Please be in prayer about
this important series.
Bible Study Opportunity
Suzanne Epperly will begin the Bible study “Sacred
Secrets, A Living Proof Live Experience” on Tuesday, October 7. This is a 5-week study by Beth
Moore that “explores the power and positives of
secrets”. This group will meet in the fellowship
hall each week.

Approximately 65
people
attended
the dinner and movie in the fellowship
hall on Sunday evening, Sept. 28. A wonderful meal of chicken in alfredo sauce,
roasted potatoes, steamed carrots and
green beans, bread and drinks was prepared by T’Andre Eley. Helping him in
the kitchen was Jerry & Suzanne Epperly,
Allison, Hannah, Kayla, Joshua, Dawson,
and Amy Hobson. After everyone was
served, the lights were dimmed and the
movie began. Ice cream was served at
intermission. Gasps, laughter, and applause was heard around the room as
everyone enjoyed the powerful message
of the movie. This dinner and movie
night was a huge success and we hope to
have more movie nights in the future.
Trunk or Treat
Cassidy will host a Trunk or Treat on
Saturday, October 25 at 5:00 pm. All
ages are invited and welcome. We will
need to know how many will be decorating a trunk so parking lot plans may be
made. There will also be a need for volunteers at a registration table. If you are
unable to decorate a trunk or volunteer
to help, please consider donating candy.
We will need lots of candy. Hot dogs
and sides will be served. Kids and adults
are welcome and encouraged to come in
costume. We hope to have a large group
of ‘trunks’ and some scary, strange visitors. Watch the bulletin for more information and the tear-off to indicate if you
will be decorating a trunk. Here is a link
to see some decorating ideas for your
trunk. www.trunkortreat.homestead.com

Building Fund News
Just an update on our building
fund account. The balance is
$9633. When paying toward
this balance please indicate on
your money that it is going to
the building fund. We have a
$5,000 balance in reserve for
the building so that brings our
balance down to below $4700.
Our goal would be to pay this
balance off by the end of the
year.
