screening

If you have a child
between the ages of three and
five, call to set up an Early
Childhood Screening. This
screening is required for
entrance into both kindergarten and the School
Readiness Classes. This
screening is free of charge
and is provided by the
Crosby-Ironton
School
District. The screening consists of a height and weight
check, vision and hearing
screening,
developmental
screening and immunization

Everyone remembers a
favorite teacher, someone
who motivates and inspires
students for a lifetime.
Minnesotans have the opportunity again this fall to nominate that unique educator for
Minnesota Teacher of the
Year.
Nominations opened Oct.
1 and remain open through
Nov. 15. Nominations can be
submitted on-line by accessing a simple nomination form
on www.educationminnesota.org. The 2015 Teacher of
the Year will be named at a
ceremony May 3, 2015. The
Minnesota Teacher of the
Year
also
becomes
Minnesota’s candidate for
National Teacher of the Year.
Eligible nominees must
meet these criteria:
· Teach in a public or nonpublic Pre-K through 12thgrade school, working at least
50 percent of the time directly with students.
· Hold a bachelor’s degree
and a Minnesota teaching
license.
· Have completed three
years of teaching by the nomination deadline.

TED ABEAR, Deerwood Fireman, showed the
third and fourth grade classes at CRES how to
use a fire extinguisher and talked to them about
the dangers of house fires.
Wear orange
against bullying
On Wednesday, Oct. 22,
the students and staff at
CRES will wear orange to
show unity against bullying.
At CRES, the students
and staff are uniting against
bullying through acts of
respect, kindness, understanding and tolerance.
Celebrate Unity Day on
Oct. 22 and wear orange.
Food Shelf drive
in November
The kindergarten classes
at CRES will be collecting
non-perishable food items for
the Crosby Food Shelf beginning Monday, Nov. 3 and
continuing through Friday,
Nov. 14.
Please bring any items
you wish to donate to CRES
during regular school hours, 8
a.m. to 3 p.m.

holds Halloween
parties
Heartland Dance and
Gymnastics is having a
Halloween party.
Bring a Friend to Class
Party on Monday, Oct. 27 and
Thursday, Oct. 30. For both
boys and girls, ages 18
months to teens.

Friday mornings at CRES
from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Early
Childhood Family Education
provides a class where you
can craft, free play, meet,
enjoy music, snack and play
in the gym. It is a great time
for parents to participate in
activities with their children.
The children love sharing the
school experience with mon,
dad, grandpa, grandma or any
other inportant adult in their
lives.
The Crosby Class of ‘58
will meet for lunch at noon on
Oct. 15 at the C-I Pub (formerly Gary’s) in Ironton.
Jr. High
Halloween
Dance changed
to Oct. 23
Yearbook
deadlines
Due to the fall sports playoffs, the junior high dance
scheduled for Thursday, Oct.
30 has been rescheduled for
Thursday, Oct. 23. The C-I
Rangerettes are sponsoring
the dance.
Seniors are asked to submit graduation and baby pictures for the yearbook by the
end of the school day on
Friday, Nov. 14.
