H
i all,
By the time you receive this newsletter it will probably be October. The leaves up
north here, will be changing colors and soon will be dropping. A sure sign that it's time to
head south, where we can put on shorts and tees again. It sure will be good to see you all again.
I mentioned in the last newsletter that the new valve installation was nearing completion,
and has proved to have worked in shutting down a small section of the Park without disturbing
the entire Park when a recent leak occurred. As soon as we get more of our sunbirds back in the
Park, we'll move forward to the final phase of this project and that is identifying all sectors of
the Park and the valves that control them. It will make life a lot more comfortable for all of us.
It's an improvement that we have wanted and asked for long before we purchased the Park. The
work of repairing our cracked sidewalks that were identified for this project has been completed
and the renovation of the office spaces will begin soon.
I will repeat what we have said many times before. As we begin our 2014-2015 season at
FSE , if you are having someone coming to stay in your coach, they need to be approved before
hand. It can be very embarrassing for you and the guest if they are denied occupancy after they
have traveled many miles because we find they do not qualify. Please make sure that your renters
understand that we are a 55+ community and a pet free Park. If you are uncertain what needs to
be done, contact Desiree in the office. Finally, we should all understand that we are responsible
for the people that we allow to rent or occupy our units, so make sure they are fully aware of the
rules and regs of our Park.

T
he next meeting of the H.O.A. will be on November 5, 2014 at 7 p.m. As it will be our
first meeting of the season, it will be reserved for homeowners only.
We are grateful for the many improvements made in our community over the years both
by management and individual homeowners. It certainly speaks to a visual pride of ownership.
We ask that you take the time to think about what we all can do to continue to improve our surroundings, either small or large scale. We wish to hear from you in this regard.
If you have any issues or concerns to add to our November agenda, please provide to Janice
Lamore at hotdancer2@comcast.net.

Social Activities Club
Nora Skelding: gn.skelding@hotmail.com
I am already getting anxious about the fall and lining up lots of activities for the 2014-2015
season. Eventually, I would like to see an “at-a-glance” calendar of a full season of events –for
display which includes dances monthly with themes identified and coordinators for each event.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, I am also starting to put my mind to the Annual Flea Market, which will need a chairperson identified by November!! I asked in the last newsletter for
a volunteer and haven’t had anyone step up yet. Please send me an email with your interest for
the Chair position, or to sponsor a theme event. Verretta has a lot of bands and contact information and will be available to help you in the planning and securing of suitable entertainment
if you have an event in mind.
If you require the use of the clubhouse for any event, be sure to contact Bob Mendes at
BobM@fourseasonsestatesroc.com to ensure it is available.
The Monthly Media magazine for mobile home parks is changing ownership in October.
We will be working with the new organizers on our issues regarding entries to for local companies who advertise and prizes are awarded. So stay tuned.
I would also like to acknowledge Mandi again, for her efforts on the Facebook page for our
Board. It has been a great means to spread the word on important events in the park and was
helpful in the notifications for water shut offs in the park last month. I know there are some
who are not Facebook users or supporters, but if it is just used as a means of communication
within the park and sharing pictures and information on our events, it is worthwhile.
PHOTOS: If anyone has some candid photos of our activities over the past year, would
you mind sending to me by email? I am preparing a photo book on our activities in the park
and would like to have a variety. Suggestions: July 4th picnic, puzzle completion, summer
Koffee Klatch’s etc.
NEXT MEETING: The next regular SAC Meeting will be held on Thursday, November
6, 2014 at 7 p.m. Please attend to provide your input into the issues for discussion or ideas for
the Board’s consideration.

participate by adding strips of the flag to the burning barrels. If possible, please

In the mean time please bring your flags to my home (Joyce/Chuck Fosdick, at
203), or put them in the bottom drawer of the plastic box in the Activities room.

i! This is your Welcome Lady, Angie Simon, reminding all new residents that even if
you do not want to have an interview with me, I would like to get some information
such as your birthday(s) and anniversaries, if applicable, so this can be passed along to
the newsletter. We would like to know when to announce birthdays, anniversaries, and special
occasions at the Koffee Klatch meetings, and feel that all of you newer residents are a part of
our friendly Community. Thank you, I hope to hear from all of you soon! Just give me a call.
Thanks!
We'd like to welcome Dottie DesJarlais into our lovely, and growing Four Seasons family!
Dottie purchased coach # 100, just a few doors down from us. She is from Indianapolis, Indiana
and is single, retired, and lives alone. She has done a lot of work on her place and it looks so
nice and inviting, with all her plants around and the nice touches she has added to it. Dottie
has three children and eight grandchildren. Her birthday is February 17. Her phone # is (727)584-5084. Dottie moved here to stay warm, as so many of us did! Welcome to our beautiful
Community, Dottie! We are so happy you are here!

rom a crime perspective, there has been nothing noted or reported in our
park this past month. Neighborhood Watch or Community Watch is not
totally about crime in our neighborhood. It’s about looking after each
other to prevent crime in our park, or victimization of our residents.
NOTE: Please ensure any thefts, break-ins etc. are reported to police
over the summer. As a courtesy, please let the office know so they can make
everyone aware as well.

National Food Days
D
id you know that almost every day of the year is a national food day? From National
Doughnut Day to National Bagels and Lox Day, this means big savings on some of
your favorites. If you know which food holidays fall in each month, you can keep an
eye out for the deals and freebies to pop up as each one approaches. Here's a sample to help
you take advantage of discounted or even free food all year.
OCTOBER:
In October, it's taco time. National Taco Day is Oct. 4th, and both Baja Fresh and Taco
Time have offered discounts for the occasion in the past. it is also National Pizza Month and
National Cookie Month. Ironically, Papa John's is currently observing National Pizza Month,
with a cookie deal, offering a family size chocolate chip cookie for $5.00, with the purchase of
any pizza through October 27th.
Use these holidays to get discounts year round. In November, there will be a posting in
this newsletter, as it will be each month, till the full year has been posted.

O
ur membership is now 81 & growing as people are discovering us. We have posted timely
happenings with the passing of Grasshopper & details of services. Also, important
notifications about water issues kept those accessing the page in the know as to dates &
times of water shut offs. We had an emergency shut off which was also covered keeping residents
informed about conditions, details, and when the water would be turned back on. This page acts
like the "phone tree" of old but you have to become a member &" like" our page.
To become a member of the page, Go to your Face Book page...Type 4 Seasons Social Activities Club in the white search bar at the top. When you are on that FB page, look under the
banner picture (currently the fireworks). Find the box marked "like ", when you click on it there
is a drop down box with choices. One of them is "get notifications". Click on it which should
put a check mark next to those words. This should send a notification when something is posted

Pool Etiquette
T
he hot and humid summer months are almost gone, and it will turn into a beautiful fall in
Florida and our Four Seasons Pool couldn’t be more welcoming! We are not getting as
much rain, so, if the potted plants look like they need watering, please take care of them.
There is a watering can by the hose along the back wall of the clubhouse. Thanks.
1. If you are the last one out of the pool, always be certain that the rope is secured across
the pool. Please ask your guests to be aware of the importance of this as well.
2. If you are a smoker and use the ‘butt’ buckets – please clean them out once in a while.
Make sure the ‘butts’ are completely out before you put them in the trash can.
3. The life preserver is for emergencies only – it is not a toy – do not let children play
with it in the pool.
4. Observe special times for your young visitors. Children under the age of 16 may use
the pool between the hours of 10AM - 1PM and 5PM till dusk, and should be accompanied and controlled at the pool by their host/s or a designated adult.
5. Straighten the chairs and tables whenever you move them around – don’t leave them
for someone else to rearrange.
6. If you put an umbrella up – make sure you put it down and tie it when you leave the
pool. Winds can blow up quickly - we wouldn’t want anyone to be injured by a flying
umbrella.
7. The green wrist bands serve to identify residents and guests – it’s important for everyone’s security to know who belongs here and who doesn’t. PLEASE WEAR THEM.
8. Be sure to dispose of trash properly – there is a special covered can to recycle aluminum
cans – do not put household/personal trash in the trash can – NO GLASS ALLOWED
IN THE POOL AREA (this is for everyone’s safety).
Treat the pool as if it was your own – actually it is!!

Helpful Hints
Beryle Patton #202, 1hotgranny@tampabay.rr.com
This is something I can do each month, if any of you would send to me via email, with your
suggestions and/or ideas, that would be helpful to our many readers.
Solar Lights:
This is perhaps something very useful to know, and I hope some of you will give it a try. I
have a friend who used her Solar Lights inside the house at night when the electric power went
off during a hurricane. She stuck them in jars and bottles and said they gave off plenty of 'free
light' in each room. She put them outside in the daytime and brought them back inside at night
for several days while the power was off. They are safe to use and cheaper than batteries. She
recommended we bring a Solar Light into our own house one night to test it for ourselves. Due
to a thunderstorm, we lost power for about 5 hours one night. We were scrambling around in
the darkness, looking for matches, candles, and flashlights. Then we looked outside and noticed
our Solar Lights shining brightly all around the patio, stairs & dock. My wife walked outside
and brought several of the solar lights inside. We stuck the Solar Light pipes into plastic drink
bottles and they made the nicest, brightest, safest, lighting you could imagine. We put one in
the bathroom, one in the kitchen and in the living room. There are many types of Solar Lights
available. We bought quite a few and put them all around our yard. They look nice and do not
attract flying bugs like the outdoor lights around our doorway. The lights we have fit into 20oz. water bottles and also fit into most of the larger 2 liter bottles. If you need a weight in the
plastic bottle to keep them from tipping over, put in a few of the colorful flat marbles they put

in aquariums and vases. You can also use sand, aquarium gravel, or whatever you have available. The Solar Lights we have are perfect inside our home. They burn all night when needed
and next day we take them back outside where they recharge and are ready for use again when
needed. Solar Lights are the perfect light solution for power outages. I had never thought of it
before seeing what my friend did, and now you know about this idea too. Submitted by Shirley

Thought for the month
The Bank Account
This is AWESOME ... something we should all remember. A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised
and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably
combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, He was provided a visual description of his tiny
room, including the eyelet curtains, that had been hung on his window. “I love it”, he stated with
the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
“But Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.”
”That doesn't have anything to do with it,” he replied. “Happiness is something you decide
on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged, it's how I arrange my mind. I have already decided to love it. It's a decision I make
every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful
for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day
and all the happy memories I've stored away, just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank
account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot
of happiness in the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory
Bank. I am still depositing.”
“Remember the five simple rules to be happy are:”
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
There’s lots of people in this world who spend so much time
watching their health that they haven’t the time to enjoy it.

10 Benefits of Growing An Herb Garden
By Elissa Rodrigues, Monthly Media Staff Writer
My Grandmother was an excellent gardener. You name it, she could
grow it - from gorgeous roses (several varieties) to blueberries, tomatoes,
peppers, zucchini, she even had an apple tree! Unfortunately, unlike her,
my thumb happens to be more brown than green. This Spring, however, I’m
giving it another try. I’m a Realist, so instead of growing an entire salad, I’m
starting with an herb garden. Here are 10 benefits that may convince you to do
the same!
1. Fresh herbs are always available. This may seem obvious, but you’ll be surprised how creative you’ll get with everyday vegetables, dips and dishes when you have fresh ingredients
at your fingertips.
2. It’s good for you. Adding fresh herbs boots vitamins and nutrients to your diet, and don’t
forget that gardening is a great calorie-burner with all that digging, bending and stretching.
Talk about a double-benefit!
3. Save money. Fresh herbs can be expensive and wasteful when you buy a whole bundle, and
only use a few snips for a recipe. Not to mention, stores may not always have the variety
you’re looking for, and specialty stores mean higher prices.
4. Educational. Growing an herb garden is a learning experience for adults and children, and
kids will love to help out! From a new gardening technique to trying out new recipes, you’ll
be surprised how much you’ll learn.
5. No boring dinners. Add a few new herbs to chicken, fish, potatoes, vegetables - or your
regular party dip, and it goes from bland to wow, and you can experiment with new combinations nightly.
6. Relieve stress. Tending to or just visiting an herb garden - and breathing in all that aroma
- can do wonders for stress levels. So make yourself a cup of (fresh) mint tea, and relax!
7. Share the wealth. Having your own herb garden means you’ll have more than enough, so be
a good neighbor (and friend), and share your bounty with others! Tie on a recipe to a fresh
bunch, or jar your own dried herbs and voila you’ve got the perfect hostess gift.
8. Exotic variety. There are 30 varieties of basil. Who knew? Your regular grocer only carries
the most common sweet basil. Choose your own exotic variety, whether it’s dark opal basil,
cinnamon basil, anise basil, Italian basil, or globe basil to name a few.
9. Curb appeal. Adding an herb garden can give your landscape real curb appeal - it’s lush
and well tended-to. If you don’t have room for a full herb garden, just add them to shrubs.
They blend in beautifully.
10. Good, clean fun. Dirt aside, it’ll brighten your day to watch your fresh garden grow, and it
may inspire you to branch out to fruits or vegetables. With all those herbs, you know you’ll
have the salad dressing covered!
