CRAFT SHOW
OUR MISSION
A LITTLE PLANNING
The mission of the Saline Craft Show is to provide a quality, juried craft show that will benefit both our customers
and the school community. Youth groups involved with
the craft show have the opportunity to practice life skills
and leadership as well as raise money for their activities. The crafts embody skills and reflect respect for both
the materials and the processes used. The handcrafted
products feature original designs that will enhance the
beauty and whimsy of any buyer’s environment.
•Accepted forms of payment vary from artist to artist.
They all accept cash, and many accept checks or
charge cards.
•If you see something you like, but cannot make
the purchase right now, remember to get a business
card or the crafter information, for purchasing at
a later date.
•Plan to enjoy the Saline area shops. See area map
located on page 6.
•If you come early before the show opens be prepared
to wait in line. Some of the lines are outdoors, so
dress appropriately.
•There is limited parking on the site, however, a
convenient free shuttle service is available from
surrounding school buildings and Faurecia Plant
(formerly Visteon) located at 7700 E. Michigan Ave.
THEN AND NOW...
The first Saline Craft Show was held on November 14,
1987 with 66 craft booths and about 900 shoppers.
The concession stand consisted of a crock pot of soup
and some hot dogs. By 1998, the show had grown to
210 craft booths and about 7,500 shoppers. Along the
way the funds raised by the show helped support the
Saline Future Homemakers of America Chapter, which
at that time was one of the largest in the country. In
1999, the Saline Community Education Department
was brought in to assist with the growing organizational
needs of the show. In 2007, the show had 250 craft
booths and almost 10,000 shoppers. The funds raised
by the show today support numerous Saline High
School teams and clubs as well as various community
based youth programs.
JURY PROCESS
The Saline Craft Show is a juried craft show to ensure
show visitors and shoppers of receiving the highest
quality, one-of-a-kind and limited edition work. The
jurying process is conducted by a panel of committee
members. Each crafter is required to submit photos,
which are anonymously viewed by the jury. Entries are
judged on the quality of workmanship, creativity and
originality. This process assures the standard of excellence that the Saline Craft Show brings to our area
year after year.
WE ARE ONLINE!
www.salineshows.com
Visit our website regularly as it is constantly changing.
The gallery of photographs will give you a preview of
the crafters at our shows. You can also review the artists’ biographies, where they reveal their crafting history and the reasons they are in the craft world. Craft
Show programs can be downloaded from our site prior
to the show. Other detailed information about upcoming craft shows is also available on salineshows.com.
www.facebook.com
Search Saline Craft Show and add us as a friend.
You will then receive updates on your Facebook
wall of our various visits to craft shows. Each
year, we visit over 40 shows and are in contact
with many crafters from these shows. On our
Facebook page, we feature crafters and their
product lines to give you a preview of the unique
creations they will be bringing to Saline.
